Title: Montana or Grizzly?
Post by: Bakes168 on May 12, 2008, 05:42:00 PM
Does anyone have any opinions on which bow would be best, a new Bear Montana or Grizzly? I have a 30" draw and I don't know which one would be best, plus I'm just undecided on which one I like best.
Does anyone have any sweet pics or info?

Neither is best, per say. I've hunted with both for at least two years each, but I must say that I prefer the Montana. But that's just me; I love the grip and the way it points. It just suits me.

BTW, my draw is also 30".

I have a 55# Grizzly that I draw to 29inches and I love it! It doesnt feel like it stacks much, this is my first trad bow so don't take my word fully, and its smoother to me than the Montana. I really like the grip as well. It's very accurate as well, most anything within 15 yards is in trouble 1st shot. And I've had it 5 months.

I've never shot a Griz so I can't help ya there. I really love my Montana. Great bow with no hand shock and quietly shoots a 585 grain arrow with authority!!!!!!! Good luck and have fun with whatever bow you buy! Let us know what you decide!

I'm a longbow guy, so I'd have to go with the montana. Don't know anything about the grizzly, but they are two totally different bows/grip styles. I'd try to decide on a preference before you lay out money on a new bow, even a fairly inexpensive one.

I have some very nice bows but my go to bow is one of my Montanas. One is 50# the other is 55#. Just my opinion but I think the longbow is faster and makes less noise.

Don't forget to look on the classifieds, do a search for Montana longbow, there was one on there for $280 that was pretty new

Even though I am a longbow shooter, I must add that the old Bear Grizzly is about the most under rated bow on the market.  I have not examined the newer make up, but if it is as good a shooter as the older models it would feel smoother and shoot faster than the Montana.

my first two bows were a grizzly and a montana respectively.  I shot both well.  The montana better.  I accomidated readily to the broom handle grip and it was great.  Felt like i was pointing my finger at the target as I hit it time after time.
