Thought I would share a photo or two of my home made "Maple Monster" longbow. I made this in March of 1989, and it has been a companion ever since. I haven't taken any big game with it yet, but have taken many whistlepigs and squirrels.
This year I will spend some more time in deer season with my friend. It's 57# @ 28" draw, and I pull 54 of that at my draw. It's all maple..lams and riser, and we fashioned it on a 2 X 6, using innertube for clamps. It's a good shooter with a little string-follow.
First photo is the bow on my old wool coat. Second is same photo done in sketch form via photobucket.

Nice bit of craftsmanship there, George.
Nice bow George!
I've got one of those! It's my first self made bow, a hickory selfbow. It is massive, 66" NTN, 55@28, has 2" of string follow, has horrible tiller, but still shoots. I think I may hunt with it this year. It's named "The Beast". Thanks for sharing George.
Wow, missed the glove until I saw the "doctored" version. And I call myself a hunter!!
You got some sweet hunting there in your hand, George.
