Traditional Bowhunters Journal has a really cool show with Mr. Scott online this week. Check it out; lots of good info on his bows and bowmaking in general.

wahoo,

Ed makes so many different styles that you almost need to catch him at a shoot and try them out.  WARNING...if you are looking for a primitive bow and shoot one of Ed's, I am not responsible for any funds that may leave your billfold afterwards.
I'll try to post a picture of one tomorrow.

I have two.  They are some great shooters.  Both of these are made from Hackberry.  Bottem one is backed with Whitetail sinew and Diamond Back.  The other is Elk Rawhide.

Depends on wood, weight, work, design....etc.  I've seen them from $200 and way up.

Wahoo, He can do 50 @ 25 in just about any stlye. What type of use  do you plan for the bow? He could do an itty bitty 'bush bow if you want to sit in a tiny blind, A horse bow if you want more zip in a short length or his standard "Owl Hunting Bow"  for overall shootability.... of course you could get an unbacked selfbow  also. Personally, I'd choose the Hunting Bow in 58-60inches. He could build it shorter but I like the feel of a bow built a little longer than  absolutely necessary.

When Ed is done you'll have a work of art and a functional bow.

I beleive we were talking his hunting bow which at my draw could be 51". I told him all my other bows are 56". I will be using it for deer, bear, elk and some day hopefully moose. I am pretty excited but am in no big hurry even though I wish I picked one up a year ago in Boise. I am a spot and stalker not into blinds.

I don't have extensive personal experience with Owl Bows, and frankly view them more as art than utility, though I have shot them and was surprised and impressed. What I do know from experience is that you'd be hard-pressed to find a more dedicated traditional bowyer, archer, or bowhunter than good ole' Ed. I have personally watched him stand patiently smoking his ever-present pipe at the great-late Expo West, listening with a smile as cocky two young redneck hi-tech training-wheelers (smoking cigarettes, apropos)from the ID Sports Show next door the primary vendors are ATVs and canned-hunt pimps) rave on about the superiority of technology, and gradually talk them into coming into the Big Trad Tent next door and shoot his bows, and witnessed the flickering light of potential conversion come into their eyes. Ed is aming the purest and very best of us, and deserves our support and applause. Dave

I had the pleasure to shoot a couple of his bows this past summer at Cloverdale, In.  Put the selfbow bug on the front burner even hotter.  He is a great man to talk with and very generous.  When I walked up to his display he instantly asked if I would like to try one of his bows out.  I replied that I would love to but was not in the market to purchase a bow at that time.  This is what he said, "In that case then try this one out, it is my most expensive bow."  I shot it better than the f/g martin LB I came to the shoot with.  Great bows.
