Anyone have experience with Code of Silence camo? Seems like a good product only I'm thinking burrs and the like could be aggravating. Thanks in advance
-
"ANY" berber/fleece product is going to be a challenge if you hunt weeds with any of the various "stick tights" in them. I have spent hours cleaning up my Naturalgear camo, which this camo resembles. The other thing to consider is their website mentions these garments were made to fit snug, no layering. They even tell you to order "up" if you plan on doing that. I'm too old and "robust" for snug clothing anymore.
-
Thanks gents. I like my Asbell wool but thought this might be a little better with the windblock layer. Thinking I should stick with Asbell & First Lite.
-
I'm not sure about Terry's comment on it "blobbing". I only say that because of my own experience with "Natragear" camo, which I wear a lot. I have some ASAT, great stuff when I'm in "western" terrain. You can really disappear with it there, but when I tried wearing it in eastern tree stands I'd get busted almost every time. Too light a color pattern I'm thinking. I get the best results in those conditions with an overall fairly dark "blob" pattern that blends well with the dark tree bark. Just my own results. :dunno:
-
Don't take this wrong I use camo because I like the looks I use to dress head to toe but I don't think it matter when hunting Big game now as for birds I have shot Duck and Geese with a Maroon hoodie on for years most time earth tone color pants with the same with the top or camo.
-
I appreciate all the feedback. Went ahead and ordered some. I'll be sure to update y'all on what I think of it. Mid-March should get some time in the woods for a little scouting.
-
BAK, blobbing is what happens when a multicolored object moves further away.
The further, and I'm not talking way further, a multicolored object moves away, the more it wants to become a solid color. (AKA Blob)
-
Ahh, I was aware of that Terry, but thanks. :bigsmyl:
-
No worries, but when I read this....
"I'm not sure about Terry's comment on it "blobbing".
It sounded like I needed to explain, and that their camo patterns are susceptible to blobbing"
:campfire:
-
Yeah, I wasn't real clear there, sorry about that.
-
Just looked them up up... definitely Blob!

Just a heads up on first lite. The Chernin group now owns them. The Chernin group is hugely and openly anti hunting and anti 2nd as well as a very large donor for the DNC. Pretty ingenious and extraordinarily deceitful of the anti hunters to have bought that company such that hunters contribute to their own demise when they buy their gear. I have tried to make as many hunters as possible aware of what is going on with them.
If you see all the youtube hunters wearing it, that is because Chernin group is giving it to the popular youtube guys which sets the trend for other hunters to buy it as well. Many of them just don't care.
At any rate, safe hunting and just food for thought!
-
Yep, once I found out about the sellout to the Chernin Group, First Lite lost my business. I have a decent amount of their clothes that are several years old that I like, but there are plenty of companies out there manufacturing quality products that crap on my values…
-
Should say “don’t” crap on my values!
-
Thanks for the info Strick9 I have several First-Lite items. Not any more.
-
Thanks for the heads up David. I wouldn't have expected that. They, like REI, will never have my business.

I actually have the lightweight pants and mid weight jacket. The camo pattern looks better in person and on the woods, with no sheen. Yes, you will pick up burrs with this material, but I really like the pants. Very quiet and warm. I am actually considering getting the hoodie. The jacked is very nice. More quiet than other wind barrier garments, but not quite as wind proof as the cabelas garments that I have worn. The are having a sale that is $100 off of you get the mid weight pants and jacket. If it was 80 off for the lightweight hoodie and pants, I would be pulling the trigger.
I should mention that I got the large pants. Waist is probably good from 34-38, inseam 32 or 33. Long enough for me, without getting in the mid. You would think the material on the inside of the calves would be noisy, but is isn’t. Nice and warm, and nearly wind proof without a barrier. The jacket I got in 2xl I have broad shoulders and there was resistance lifting my arms up in the xl. I normally can’t where xl unless it is a tall size anyway. My sleeve length is 36/37.

Check out UoMo Outdoor
I just got the H-1 flannel and wow this thing is going to be sweet. It has a wind stopping layer and is built well and fits well.
Seems like it will be a great long lasting piece to hunt in!
-
What is H1 flannel made of?
-
I did get the midweight pants & jacket friday. Lg pants have enough room for a baselayer. Lg jacket has room enough for 2-3 layers depending on their bulk. So far I'm impressed with fit, comfort, warmth, and wind blocking. The pattern resembles the natural gear camo I've used in the past and being dyed wool it has no shine and very quiet. Hope to get some field time between now and my March trip. For the money I would recommend this brand. Being a burr magnet is my only concern....
-
Terry, H1 by Uomo is a wool flannel with a wind-stop layer. Looks nice online
-
Just another gimmick. Blob fleece. The only camo I think actually does what it is designed to do is asat and predator and similar styles that have a high contrast pattern.
The other commenters were right with berber material- once you get into burdock or stick tights you will NEVER get that out.. it pretty much becomes part of the material.. you will be a walking wookie

Put that little video so you can see what they look like. Then I took a couple of pics. May help someone making a decision.
-
Thank you Patrick. I find them very comfortable and quiet. I spoke with their marketing guy and he said the primary intention with the berber fabric is for when you get to your stand, not necessarily to wear to your stand.

Thanks Josh. :campfire:

Little update on Code of Silence....
I got a call from a representative of the company, but not an employee. He is requiring about a Sponsorship and Banner package. So, if anyone want's to rally in on the inquiry, just contact Josh Grube, he's on this thread. He goes by goobersan. I have no idea what that means, but is sounds like a guy I'd love to have in camp that's for sure!
BTW, Josh was exactly right about the direction they are going. It doesn't sound like it's just another run of the mill fleece that's for sure. I hope if they Sponsor they'll throw a product in on the Hunting package that will be making it's rounds this year. The package really got some attention this year. I'm going to call Tom about sending it to Bear Quest this year.

Fixed yer pix PDK
-
Thinking seriously about trying some of this. :jumper:
-
The PDK photos make it look like it won't blob up too much.
-
Lack of shine is a big deal on fleece and wool.
Deer don't blob up when they bed 40 yards away from you and you look away and look back to try to see them again !! Just sayin! :biglaugh:

If there's anyone around IA, the Prez is at the Iowa Classic this weekend.

I have the lighter weight stuff and really like it. Fit it great arms are tapered but mid section is roomy. Pants aren’t baggy and won’t get in the way they seem to taper towards the ankle so in other words they’re not skinny jean fit. They didn’t seem to grab burrs any worse than anything else. It’s a dense wool/fleece not lofty. Here’s a picture I got on my trail Cam. It’s very neutral colored but has the longer line to break up your outline unlike a digital. Camo isn’t always necessary but to I don’t understand the guys who are so against wearing it, it literally helps conceal you from the animal you’re trying to kill
-
Don't count me as not liking camo, I have a piece of camo everything except briefs... :biglaugh:
I don't always wear camo, and lots of times wear different patterns top and bottom and hat.
This stuff looks like it would work pretty well also.

This past season was my first season using their heavy weight bibs and they’re going to be my go to for this next coming season. They blend in extremely well in the winter here in Southern Indiana hardwoods and they are extremely quiet. I was really impressed with how well they block the wind and kept my legs and the blood running to my feet warm. I only had a pair of wool long johns on under them and sat a couple all day sits in 10 degree weather with no issues. I was using my first lite bibs but liked the idea of how quiet these would be. The briars and burrs stick to them the a flea on a dog but anything I wear in the thick stuff I hunt gets burrs all over them so it’s not different than what I’m used to. This is just my experience with them but I think they are well worth the money and out perform a lot of the bibs I’ve used in the past. The leg zips on the side are great for taking them off and venting on the hike in.
-
I’m going to try that “Burr Paw” out it. It’s supposed to be legit
-
Looks to me like it just another basic fleece. So whatever fleece does, it will do as other fleece products pretty much from a fleece standpoint.
My opinion, that pattern is going to blob at a very short distance.
:campfire:
I was thinking the same thing with respect to the blob effect. My favorite pattern has always been Predator, mainly because of its ability to break up the human silhouette. I'm in the market for new camo this year because I've completely worn out my old Predator stuff which I bought in '92. After looking at a lot of different companies and patterns I'm probably going to buy the Predator micro fleece series again.
-
I like my Predator the most of all as I like to move and stalk a lot. Predator keeps me broke up if I stop from getting caught moving, and if I get caught in the open.
This Code of Silence is designed for tree stand, brush or blow down blind type of hunting where you are staying still for a long time. In these scenarios the blobbing in not as important. They have designed their line around that AND for warmth. Their info is for real. I have a LONG background in Polyester, Nylon, and Wool. These guys know their stuff.
-
Good to know, thanks Terry.
-
They sponsor Bill Winke's new show.

My apologies for being so late.
Last weekend I trampled around some new to us public land with a great friend of mine.
28°-33° all day, mild 10-15mph wind. Wearing my favorite underoos, a baselayer top, alpaca hoodie, and my new Versa camo we set about for approx. 7 miles or so. First and foremost the windblocking ability is the best I could imagine. I'm gonna love this stuff from mid October thru the seasons. Only seemed to get too warm when I increased the pace after some whining about someone's legs getting tired. The frequent stops were not followed with the typical chills from being too warm. That could have been the alpaca but I never felt any wind breaking through. After a lengthy "intelligent" discussion (3-5 seconds) we chose to take a shortcut through the marsh. Just loved the sound of my solid friend heading into a 3' hole of fresh Wisconsin winter swamp water. Now with one water filled boot he allowed me to lead myself into a 3-1/2' detour. With 3 wet feet we scampered back the original(and wiser) path to the parking lot. That 1.2 mile trek was not what I had expected. Could have been the neoprene boots but I'd like to give some credit to the wool and windblocking layer in those pants. Never felt cold, not one moment.
I had expected to be too warm walking in that gear and can say I was more than impressed. 100% happy in my investment and would recommend Code of Silence camo to anyone. Along with my Asbell wool I plan on enjoying much more of the next hunting season. :campfire:
-
Thanks for the Review! Exactly which pieces did you buy?
-
James, the Versa 7 jacket and pants are what the review was. I'd also buy the lighter weight set if they made a jacket version. I haven't tried any of the more expensive camo brands, wool or otherwise and after this experience I don't have to.
-
Just bought the vest. Looks like good stuff.
-
Similar appearance to the old NaturGear pattern. Have enough of that to last me through the Second Coming. Pattern really disappears in the woods, on rocky, open Sendero's, dead grass, almost anywhere. NG pants with a Predator Brown shirt and there you go. Not fleece, but decent weight material. It all boils down to the best camo is "Stay Still"!!!
:campfire: :coffee: :archer2: :campfire:
-
While being very disappointed in their marketing team I have to say the Versa7 is very well put together. Quiet, warm and windproof. Merino baselayer and an alpaca hoodie was perfect for an all day sit. 23°-38°
-
I also backpack and Alpaca is very warm and lightweight.
:campfire: :coffee: :archer2: :campfire:

I picked up the Verdigre pants and pullover in mid October. I've worn it with temps in the mid 20 degree range with a mid-weight base layer and I am more than happy with it. I picked up the Zone 7 vest last week to use over the pullover for the colder temps in our late season. The vest is sized to wear over the top of their pullover or jackets and it has a slit to accommodate your safety harness strap. Good stuff!
-
I got the zone 7 pants, jacket and vest. Also have the merino pullover. Really like it all so far! The zone7 pants do collect burrs but I knew that before buying it! I do really like the "Softer Look".
-
I got the vest and will be trying it saturday.
-
Looks like decent gear. Might break down and get the vest.
:campfire: :coffee: :archer2: :campfire:

Finally used my vest. It was great! Warm and quiet. True to size. Worth the money.
