John McDonald (Big River Bows) passed away last evening.
Hopefully, he and his Pals Ernie and Kenny are together now, flinging some arrows together and having a few YUK YUKS

One of the good ones, remember shooting with him before he decided to make bows at a club near Tomah.
Agree or not I always loved John's opinions etc. You knew where he stood, no marble mumble beating around the bush talk.
We are losing a lot of folks in the Trad community as of late.

Sad news for the trad community. John was a great Bowyer. My 2nd trad bow was one of his reflex deflex longbows. RIP John

John built my first custom recurve Kodiak clone in 1996. Followed by a D/R longbow 21st Century clone in 2014. We are all richer for meeting or talking with him over the years. May he rest in peace with his lovely bride. May the perpetual light shine on them both and their memory be eternal. The list of bows I own that will never be made again increases. The circle of life continues.

My post from today.
Im saddened to inform everyone of the passing of my old buddy John McDonald (93) of Bigriver Bows. John died last night of a broken heart, but now is at peace with his beloved wife Terry.
He was a great dad and grandpa, friend to many, a friend to the WI Traditional Archers, and a great bowbuilder.
He is the reason many WI trad archers have so many bows, me included🙂.
There wont be another like the old coot, and I am better for knowing him. I asked him if I could take the Bigriver name for my knives in his honor, and he was touched. I wont forget him, neither will many of us. A life well lived, salute!!

Add Lamont to that list-the hunting crew is back together now.
Rest In Peace!
