I nearly ran over this bugger bushoggin.
Needless to say, the field can stand for a fewmore weeks.
Nature is so cool
Very cool Biggie.
I wish we were seeing more on our place. Our biologist thinks the coyotes are having a big impact on our fawn crop.
Good eye Biggie! Looks like a buck.
Our resident deer families have gone undercover. Each Spring they seem to disappear only to reappear in June. By July, while we have breakfast on our screen porch inevitably they will bring out the little ones to feed across our pond.

This one shouldn't have any spots left by opening day. I walked up on it in the swamp while hog hunting a month ago today.

Stumpin with Jeremy and Jay a few days ago...bout had a heart attack when we went to the stump to pull arrows and 3 feet from it momma blew off the nest....sat there through all the arrows landing close by, never saw her tucked in next to the stump/brush.

I don't get it. I thought you southern boys had late (to us) ruts. Why is it your fawns are born so early? Good pics anyways.
Yeah it's odd for sure. Here in Middle Georgia we have the rut in Mid november. SW Georgia has the peak the week after Christmas. A few hundred miles west in Bama it's in january and south Florida it's in sept!
I don't care when it happens just as long as it happens :-)
