Happy to try out my new bow and find it shoots as good as the one I retired to backup bow. My other one treated me so well I felt bad making it a backup bow... :biglaugh:
This was my second sit, first was a stiff SE wind in my back fencerow ( not tons of deer there) , saw nothing, then it was hot again so I tried to get everything done that needed it so I could concentrate on important stuff.
My plan with a NE wind was to go to a ladder stand 50 yards off a late planted beanfield that is still green, chain it back on and sit it.
OK, got to stand and no chain, boomer or the rope that fastens seat to tree?? WTH ?? Still no idea where that stuff went...
So on to the next stand 400 yards on down by creek . Just got in and look back to left, dang there's a deer. Nice doe and she goes on toward creek out of sight. Then another deer, smaller but no spots, this one ends up going straight away thru timber. Hey, there is a big bodied deer with head behind a tree, I'm thinkin - buck.

OK he steps forward and exposes vitals... :coffee:

I could Charlie this one out because it's rainin, but it's sposed to quit in a bit and it's 52 degrees so I may have a place to be... :biglaugh:
He wasn't big enough for this early in season (sorry meat hunters :) ) and besides he's 60 yards.
Now the squirrels are raising cane just to my left and the first doe is coming in, she goes behind a double tree and I stand up.
She is grazing on weeds I guess, stuff is about knee high on me(no short jokes please!)
I'm ready ,she stops ,and without conscious thought the arrow is gone. She bolts off in the creek bed and goes South at full speed , I can hear water splashing for a little ways , then silence.
I thought I saw the arrow break and flip off to the side, but when I went to look for blood there it was stuck in the dirt so must have been a weed or stick that flew off to the side.
Gave her about 20 minutes ,which is about how long I sat in stand and went down in the creek, they always go to the deepest place they can, and there she was, total about 60 yards.
Once again, I'm amazed like always at the killing power of a sharp broadhead.
Bro John came and helped with recovery and field dressing.

Thanks folks!
Charlie, it was a VPA 3 blade 200 grain. Love them! Lost one last year when the buck snapped it off in the 6' tall warm season grass he went thru, almost cried...
Bisch,Mr. Cook wasn't all that bad, he just waited as long as he could to shoot sumpin. Of course, 96* temps and several rains didn't help any... :biglaugh:
Weather finally acted right last two days.
