Title: KME broadhead sharpener
Post by: larry f on September 21, 2022, 07:37:38 PM
I have the KME sharpener and can't get it to sharpen  tuffheads as the angle on the broadhead has changed. Any ideas on a fix for this with KME.

What sharpener Larry, the knife one that can do knives or broadheads or the roller one for broadheads only?

It took me a long time on the coarse stone w kme roller sharpener to get a batch of grizzlies sharp.  Staying with the coarse stone until you get a burr along the entire edge is absolute key!  The other thing I found helped was to work the non beveled side along the side of the stone prior to going to work on the beveled side.  Once they've sharpened on this you'll find touching them up very easy.  95 percent of your effort will be getting that burr.  Ron at kme stayed on the phone w me until I had hair flying off my arm.  Remember not to put much pressure and let the stone do the work.

I have the older model that is a knife sharpener and has the extra set of jaws that does broadheads. It still does most heads just not the tuffheads because of their changing the angle of the bevel.

KME sells an adapter that is designed to work with the Tuffhead broadhead.
