There's a really fun shoot coming up in Southern Louisiana later this month. It's set in a wildlife refuge and offers many realistic hunter situations in its target layout.
Info on this annual event just got posted on TradGang under the TRAD EVENTS and LOUISIANA: LOUISIANA TRADITIONAL BOWMEN threads.
Oh yeah , Ill be there, able to shoot this year, finally , cant wait... :) Marco ROLL CALL whose next??????????? :goldtooth:
I'm trying to get off of work for it. Haven't been before but have heard it is a fun shoot.
I'll be there! Good company, good food and a fun shoot!!
Friday , Sat,and Sunday ....lots of shade , lots of fun!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Can one of you guys give me directions on how to get there?
Wislnwings,
I assume you'll be going from Gonzales. Take Airline to Fla blvd. Go East on Fla. Next intersection past Sherwood Forest is Flannery. Go North on Flannery which becomes North Flannery. Once you cross RR tracks go about a mile and look to your right you'll see the sign. If you intersect with Greenwell Springs Rd you missed it. Good luck.
Murray (Trooper)
Thank you!

How about a real "shot in the dark"?
If you come on Saturday, try to stay late. There's gonna be a free dinner. As soon as it's dark, we'll hold the "Coon Shoot".
Flashlights & bug repellant are standard equipment. No tell'in what's gonna be out there. :scared:
dID YOU SAY free?????????
"Free", that's a price even my wife won't argue with. I'm planning on going Friday after work and all day Saturday unless something comes up.
FREE...Yep!
How many of ya are gonna make the Saturday shoot and the free dinner?
I'm planning on being there Saturday. I just need to decide what bow I'm shooting. I just received a second-hand Acadian Woods Treestick with Treestick and recurve limbs today, or maybe I should bring one of my Crow Creek Black Feathers, or...
Wislnwings, just bring'em.
If you want to shoot different bows/limbs for either "fun" or "score", let the front-table folks know and they'll work it out for you as to fees, scoring, etc.
If you think 3-D in Southern Louisiana means flat terrain and boring shots, you're in for a real surprise at "The Real Thing..."
The Waddill Wildlife Refuge is set in the Amite River "breaks". You will shoot up and down in terrain with short hills, ravines and creek beds.
Good natural backstops and NO ROCKS! :archer:
i CANT WAIT TO TRY THE Novelty shot!!!!!...been sick all weeknd, trying to get well for Friday!!! :)what I like is lots of shade there...and the best people!!!!! :)
If anyone is interested I'll try to remember Saturday to bring at least one of the bow racks I finished today for the St. Jude's auction. That way you can see them before bidding.
Wislnwings, that would be great! When you get there, just check in with the ARTAC folks at the front table in the pavilion. They'll help you get set up to display them
Thanks very much for doing that...
The club doing this shoot (ARTAC) will be setting up quite a few of their new targets. I hear we have a new elk in the family!
2 more days....hope to see alot of my old friends...what great bunch of folks... :wavey: :campfire: :clapper: my son is coming in , I can't wait!!!! :goldtooth:
Hope I can make it...I'm trying to get over a wicked-bad stomach virus that kept me in the hospital most of yesterday getting IV's for dehydration.
On the plus side I've lost almost twenty pounds in 4 days!!
