Looking for a recommendation for someone to reduce the weight of my Hill style longbow? Any local talent,I live in Wisconsin.Thank you for your input.

I went back to the builder(Mike Treadway) to have my Treadway bow reduced from 56# to 47# so I'd suggest going to the builder first.

im really surprised there isnt any tutorials on how to do this, it cant be that difficult to do.
if someone would just show how its done, and things not to do in the prosess. :dunno:

Original bowyer John McDonald. I don't think he is still doing bow work?

Some bows are easier than others. Been told Hill styles are not that easy to reduce much.

That could be. Some bowyers take a little off the sides to reduce the weight, and Hill styles are already pretty skinny.

Taking eight off a narrow limbed bow by reducing the sides wont do much. In my experience you need to remove glass from both sides...tippit

gordydog ,
If you are still trying to find someone to reduce your bow I would recommend getting in touch with Joe Blake owner of Prairie Longbows.Phone #1 320 304 3709.
He has reduced 3 bows for me! One was a ZEBRA " Eagle" longbow 62# reduced to 53#.
Great work on all bows!

Like BAK said, it is not that easy to reduce Hill bows. Craig at HHA told me that a number of years ago when I inquired about my Wesley Special.
