my buddy has decided to pull out his 1953 Bear Polar recurve that belonged to his granddad. I'm not 100% sure that it was made in 1953, but the markings on it say it was patented in 1953, Grayling MI. It then says Canada underneath that. Bow is 40# and 66". Two questions here, though it's not for sale what's it worth. Secondly, who is a good online source for making strings? There are no trad shops around here. Thanks!
bobby graham.g-strings,you can find them in the sponsors classifieds.
contact Goldenhawk on here
Yeah, as mentioned above, contact Goldenhawk. He makes a great string and is a pleasure to deal with! :D
Chad, LeRoy or Bobby can fix you up with a good string.
Most sell on the electronic auction site for less than $100.
Can't go wrong with Chad or Goldenhawk. Topshelf folks to deal with for sure!!
Goldenhawk - class guy and makes a great string! Also took the time to talk arrows, hunting, and share advice with me. Good stuff!
LBR (Chad Weaver) - Champoin Custom Bowstrings - Recurves.com and he is a sponsor here.
another vote for Bobby's G-Strings - really good stuff!
Just ordered 3 from the G-MAN! Bobbys a great guy to talk with and very helpful. Great price also. and very fast service.<><
what price should i tell my friend to expect. also, does anyone have a clue what that bow may be worth. i know it'll be less, cause it looks like his grandad glued on a half length piece of toothbrush as a rest. i guess it's 50 years old too.
Kyhuntertoo, sounds like you have an old "brush" rest on your bow--won't hurt the value any.
Good to see there's another stringmaker on board here! I'm about a month out on orders, and want to hit some tournamnets on the weekends!
Chad
raineman on this site makes EXCELLENT strings. Trusted him with strings for my 59 Kodiak, 66 Kodiak, 76 Super kodiak. Can't go wrong with Jimmy!
