Thought this might be of interest, looks like heavy bows are still being built and shot.....
This is Kirk's post on the Bowyers Bench I thought would be good over here as well....
I have a customer in Germany that ordered a bow with 100# and 80# limbs. He sent me this email today with some video. He wanted to name it "The Interceptor". I thought i'd share this with you. Kirk

Wow, he pulls that 100 with ease. Thanks Terry

Nice, looks like there are some still around that actually work at shooting heavy bows. :campfire:
-
And he holds it at full draw for 2-3 seconds. Guy's an animal.
-
Yeah, I have a 115# war bow.... they are insane. They will literally knock over a 3D Deer target. b :biglaugh: :biglaugh: :biglaugh:
-
And he doesn't look like a big, muscular guy either. Amazing!
-
Remind me not to mess with that guy..
-
How could that spine arrow work on that bow? Is it a typo?
-
150 is a stiff arrow… seems like it would be about right.
-
Wow! good for him! I will never knock a guy shooting heavy weight bows, that is impressive to watch! I am happy with the weight I shoot which is only just over 50lbs, but good for him!

Interesting, especially because they don't bow hunt in Germany.
-
Roger;
That is true the bow is considered a poachers weapon in Germany. Strange because some of the places gun hunted would be great for archery tackle.

Martin is a construction worker and in excellent physical shape. It doesn’t surprise me at all. I swung a 2 pound hammer and did wood framing and concrete work for over 20 years myself, and I pulled an 84 pound bow with ease until I was 57 years old and only weighed 175 in my prime. I was the runt of the litter too.
You should see my brothers… My baby brother Matt is 6’ 3 and 250 pounds. Picked up a 400 pound wood stove one time and just carried it in the house like it was a sack of groceries…… that man is scary strong. :scared: :scared: :scared: Matt drew his 100# bow like it was a toy in his prime.
My brother Chris is also 6’3” and hits about 210. He was pretty buffed in his prime too.
but…. It catches up to you eventually and you loose that strength if you don’t use it all the time. I’ll be 67 this year and my heavy weight bow days are gone…. But I did shoot this bow before it was finished…. (Short draw…) :biglaugh:
