Title: G'day guys, I'm back! Questions on Arrow Dynamics shafts...
Post by: Al Kidner on May 28, 2022, 01:47:30 AM
G'day all,

Firstly, it's been a spell since I was last here... in fact, a good while. Hopefully someone remembers us Aussies, me in particular ?!

To cut a long story short guys, I'm looking for some info on the Arrow Dynamics tapered carbon shafts. I was a big fan of the Arrow Dynamics Traditionals (I bought many a dozen and still have about 3 dozen ready to roll) and I've recently been in the recovery stages of a shoulder injury and have a new Big Jim Thunderchild that is 55#.

Having a look on 3Rivers I see they must have changed names as such and are now called Nitro -X is that correct?

I am a big fan of tapered shafts and I always shot these carbons as they worked for me and all my higher poundage bows in the 63#-65# area and had great success with the AD Trad shafts.

Many thanks in advance guys. I hope all my Trad Gang mates on your side of the pond are all well?

Cheers from Aussie,

Al.

When I do fiddle with carbon shafts AD is what I play with.  Never hunted with them, but for breaking in a new string and conditioning of a new glove they fly well into foam.  Mostly shoot tapered wood or 2219.

I personally wasnt very happy with them.  I found them to not be very straight and fairly brittle.
The benefits of a tapered shaft don't seem to offset the cost of manufacturing one in carbon,  not at the price of the AD shafts. So they cut corners in others areas to keep costs reasonable.
I shot 2 of 3 dozen and then moved on to other brands and parallel shafts.

I had issues getting orders and closed them out.. that was years ago and they may have solved those problems by now. Back then, there was a lot of complaints about the nock end breaking.. again may have been solved since.

We have a bunch of beman centershot shafts on discount and in 500-340 spine including factory fletched 340's for $80 a dozzen. They are very durable and with a great price point.

Other models and brands are getting harder to keep in stock.. many of the easton products are on backorder until August!
