Working on my riser design and have some questions on measurements of a few things. Grip throat centerline and shelf height.
Since the throat centerline is basically the pivot point of the limbs, should the throat center be equal distance to the limb string grooves? I shoot 3 under and do not want to screw up limb timing and want the most forgiving bow I can build.
Thoughts on grip throat center measurements in relationship to string grooves? Or should the shelf be more the center of the bow?

Center of bow and riser on the throat.
I like 1" above the throat for the shelf.

And you can adjust knocking point where it needs to be. I get mine even tiller most times.
Just started three under myself have not moved anything yet.

I tiller even, since I've heard 3 under needs that and I let folks shoot my bows. No issues with tuning split , my favored hold. It's always quieter for me, and I anchor high so I get the sight pic of 3 under and the quieter of split...

Not necessarily talking about tillering bit riser /bow center line. In the throat or shelf.

I would say most/everybody does it center for the throat.
Some like the shelf 3/4" and others like it 1",1-1/4" or 1-1/2"
Here is a glass bow set up like a Selfbow, arrow rest 2" above center of bow with 1/4" negative tiller.

I grind my shelf 1 3/8" above center... After I sand and slope inward it's closer to 1 1/4"... I think 1" to 1 1/2" is pretty common...

MM laid it out. The deepest part of the grip is on the centerline, with equal length limbs. You set the high point of the shelf directly above the deepest part of the grip. You can set the shelf to a fair range of heights and it will work. I also shoot 3 under, but off a rest instead of a shelf and I set my rest at 1.25" above the center.

I actually watched a show on those bows and the "physics" behind the odd length. More of a zen thing than hitting the bullseye I believe!
