Title: Ace Broadheads anyone...??
Post by: woodchucker on May 04, 2022, 01:29:09 PM
As I said in another thread, a couple years ago I dropped 10# due to a shoulder strain.
My son Little Bear, has always made our arrows, and I have about 4-5 dozen 55-60# spine arrows that I would like to shoot. According the the spine chart, a 160gr point will drop the spine down to 45-50# I tried it... It works!! :archer2:

I have always used 125gr field points, and a Bear Razorhead/Zwickey Eskimo on my hunting arrows.
A couple months before I dropped weight, my son made me a dozen BEAUTIFUL 55-60# hunting arrows, tipped with Zwickey Eskimos for Father's Day. They sit in the box, brand new, never shot. Got me thinking.....

I could swap the Zwickeys, for 160gr Ace Broadheads, and hunt with them!!! :archer:
Anyone here use 160gr Ace Broadheads on their hunting arrows...???

I don't understand your 'problem'..

Something wrong with the Zwickeys???

You said 'never shot'..... why not shoot a couple and see before you go through a bunch of guess work.

I'm with Terry,I would at least give the ones you have a try.

I have used the Ace Express 165 grain. They are the straight edge ones. I killed a hog with one and they worked great, and are easy to sharpen.

Ok!! Ok!!! :knothead:

After I dropped 10#.... I did shoot the 55-60# arrows. WAY over spined!! All kicked about a foot left, at 20yds.
I put them back in the arrow bucket, and the kid made me new ones. (45-50#)

I put some 160gr field points on them and everything straightened out....
(probly shoulda said all this first??)

Btw Terry... I LOVE Zwickeys!!!!! Got a bunch of them!!

Actually been thinking about switching to 135gr Deltas, to match the 135gr Judo I always carry in my quiver.
(On my 45-50# hunting arrows)

Yes, 135 Zwickeys and Glue on Judos are a combo I've been running with for decades....both 175 gr

If ya need 160.... I'd suggest the Ace Express...

1st hog in the thread, Ace Express( set out to get a kill for them when they were sponsors)...Rob is working on getting the video to play as it shows the hardness of the shield.

Hey Woodchucker - I have used Ace heads quite a bit over the years. For me they are very easy to sharpen, and very durable. I absolutely love Ace products.

I just checked the sponsor list though, and see that Zwickey is a sponsor, and Ace is not. That really surprised me. I haven't used Zwickey's in several years, maybe I will give them a run this fall.

Personally I have not shot the 160’s but have a lot of the 125 grain ones. Ace are great heads.

Yeah Roger, they were sponsors for a couple of years and I killed a big hog with their super express for their site.... then they dropped us.  Not sure why.

Hmmm... Well alrighty then!! Problem solved!

I'm gonna use my new (just ordered them) 135gr Zwickey Deltas on my 45-50# arrows!

Brother Terry goes and makes a video of him killing a hog, and they drop him like a hot rock!!??
Ya don't treat my family that way! I don't need yer dang broadheads, I've got plenty!!

3 135gr Deltas and a 135gr Judo, in the quiver of my Bear T/D  :archer: Sounds like a winner to me!!!

If you go with Ribteks you best have a bunch of glue to fill in the penetration robbing furrels.

I’ve never noticed the difference Terry … and that’s prob well over 150 animals on Ribteks alone . But us Aussies are sth of the equator so maybe that helps 😂😂😂

As for ACE …. Perhaps my fave head , ever . 160’s …. Use with confidence . They are my go to ….

Ace products are first class as are Bob and Jan, who do a great job of promoting traditional archery. Their broadheads are a great bang for your buck.
