My anchor point is the corner of my mouth, but when I release my fingers will 'jam' my mouth and lips -- anyone else, or am I a freak?!?
Beepy,
You are no freak, just no back tension ! I used to do the same thing till a coach showed me better. Make sure your draw hand elbow is back and when I say back, I mean inline with the arrow, or slightly behind the line of the arrow. Pull thru the release with backtension and that fat lip will go away ! Look up Terry Green's form clock of the overhead pics and you will see the line formed by the arrow, bow hand, drawhand, draw elbow, everything from the front of the arrow to the draw hand elbow is INLINE. Do not release or let your fingers fly open to release the arrow, rather pull your draw hand fingers off the string, ( Pull Thru Release ). Hope this helps, I am no expert by no means and have the sorry scores to prove it ! I know WHAT to do, just DOING it everytime is the problem. Whole lot more to shooting a bow properly than one would ever think, that is for sure. Think I will continue working on that for the next 30 years or so and see if I can perfect my shooting skills, haha !!! :biglaugh:

It happens to me more than I like, the good thing is I know what cause's it,a bad release!!! You have to really work to follow thru,it's a hard habit to break. Just work thru each shot like it's the only one your going to get.
No Cams has good advice. You might also try turning your head just a little more toward the target and perhaps anchoring a fraction of an inch further back on the corner of your mouth.
Try tucking your thumb behind the curve of your jawbone and the knuckle of your pointer finger solid to your cheekbone. It will line up very close to putting the finger in the corner of your mouth, but give a better anchor point. Just something to consider.

Thanks guys I will try it all tomorrow...
You know, I just switched to a big shot glove and when I release, the edge of the nylon rubs my lip. After a day of shooting, it's done gone and gotten all raw and stingy. It sucks. I love the feel of the glove but I may have to switch back to my regular glove.
anybody have any ideas? I don't want to change my anchor point.
