Spring turkey season starts tomorrow here, and I have Tuesday off. Time to get in the woods again!! Forecast looks like parts of the day will get some light rain on and off, but nothing that makes staying home look like an option. Grabbed the last piece of kit I was missing yesterday, the orange cap for walking in. Gonna be hunting on public land, and stuff can get a little crowded around here. Took care of making sure the broadheads were flying straight and true a few days ago. Everything hitting the mark at 10, 15, 20 yards. :archer2: Am expecting the next 2 days to go by sloooowwwwwww.

Just a nice day in the woods...no bird just yet. Should make another trip out on Saturday. Got a another spot to check out a bit further drive, but probably worth the trip.

Out for a few hours again this morning before work. Had a bird within range at about 20yards. Head bobbing around, and a fallen tree blocking my shot....no joy today. Maybe tomorrow. Still a great time.

Keep at it and keep us in the loop. Pic heavy is always encouraged when it comes to something like this too :campfire:

Great weather today! Got a nice pic of some Mallards. Took a longer drive a few towns over to try a new spot, not a lot of action there. Got another place to scout in the morning, gonna get in a hike with the family since there is no hunting on Sundays here. Am hoping this new spot shows some good locations, the 2 I have been working so far are great exercise/scenery...but not big numbers of birds by the amount of call backs and gobbles present there.

I hope so...got till the 22nd here. Took a vacation day so I have the 10th, and 11th back to back in the woods.

Trying out the latest spot today...still no turkey action. Much more promising landscape though. Quite a bit more hunting pressure, even on a Tuesday. I did get some nice video, and will be back to this place in the fall for sure. Stuck around for about 45 minutes, gave me what could of been 14-15 good broadside shots at the 20-25 yard range if the season were open. We will meet again.

Back to this same spot today, only 1 gobble to be heard in response to my locator calling. Way off in the distance. Been checking with the local check in stations, not many birds getting taken by anyone this year. Changed up my locator, and box call for some sound variation to try and get some response with no luck so far. We will see what the next week brings. The weather here has been rough, cold in the mornings, low 30s still around 6am. Often windy or raining through the rest of the day only warming up to about 50s. Lots of coyote sign to be seen throughout the woods as well. At a guess none of this is helping....

Gonna be headed back out Tuesday and Wednesday for sure. Stepping up my game and trying a decoy this time. I bought 3 of the Mossy Oak Upright Hens....I would say I was disappointed with the quality on arrival, but for 10 bucks each you can't expect that much. Returned 2 and painted up the other for a better look in the field. Going for a lone hen presentation now...

Thank you! I expect the weather is playing a major role. With the temps staying low the birds may be more active in the afternoons....but we are only allowed to hunt here till noon during spring turkey season.
