Here's a newbie question... How do I find my brace height?
Call the bowyer or let us know what type of bow it is and I am sure somebody here can help you.
SS-I would suggest beginning with a bowstring with a compatible AMO length to your bow and working from there. A 60" bow AMO, will have a string with an actual length of 56". Some older bows, like Herter's for one, may be different but they are not AMO standard and are unusual enough to ignore for this exercise. With this prefab string you can adjust your brace height up and down by twisting and untwisting until you find the brace height that give you the best result in terms of arrow flight and loudness. This can vary from shooter to shooter and bow to bow, even bows of the same make and model. The arrows you want to shoot,as well as your release. Hope this helps,

Thank you... yes I should have added bow specs...
She's a Check Mate take down HunterII and 62inches long. My draw length is 28 and a half inches, but the bow was originaly sold to the previous owner at 54#lds at 29 inches...
I'm guessing that since I'm drawing closer to 28 inches that the draw weight isn't a full 54#'s.

Start at about 8" between string and deepest part of grip. And add or subtract 3# for every inch of draw length for a guide. But bows are not always the weight that is written on them they can vary.
