I’ve bowhunted since 1985 or 86, compound bows. Somewhere around the early 90’s I bought a Bear Hunter TD, shot it some and hunted with it a few times but never really liked it, too much finger pinch.
I have always been interested in traditional archery but just never dove right in. A few weeks ago I purchased my first longbow, a Black Hunter from Amazon, it’s totally different from my old recurve and I can shoot it much better than my old recurve.
Since I’m not getting any younger and I’ve always admired those beautiful traditional bows, I decided to take the plunge. I ordered a Toelke Whistler, 60” TD 45# @ 28” (my draw length is 30” on a compound bow). I’m getting myrtle laminates on the limbs and let Dan choose the other wood options.
Dan told me that they now have a 5-6 month wait, it’s gonna be a long 5-6 months.

Waiting on a custom makes time move slow. Great choice
-
The wait stinks. The day it comes is better than Christmas and your birthday combined.
-
Waiting is hard. I was "lucky" and all my customs were purchased years ago, from bowyers who were not that busy "at the time". Combined total wait time for all three bows was @4 months. In my "golden Gizzer years" now and probably won't be getting any new bows. Have a St Jude auction bow (Kota) and a trade bow (Grizzly) that I need to get to know. My main ladies keep me occupied.

The nice thing about Dan's wait time is that is that you will probably receive your new bow in the time he estimated or sooner. With many other of the bowyers that are in high demand, the estimated wait time is just wishful thinking on their part.

You wont be disappointed....Dan builds beautiful bows. You should see that guy shoot sometime. It's amazing.... Kirk

About two years ago I received my Donald Dollars stimulus check and ordered a Whistler to stimulate the economy. Myrtle limbs and Honduran rosewood riser, 60", 48#. Total wait time- 30 days! I like it a lot. Hang in there, 6 months will pass, eventually.

It will seem like forever, but Dan builds some very nice bows.
I really like mine. Ordered it June 2021 received it Nov 2021.

You’ll love it and it’ll arrive just in time for deer killin!

real question is what grip to order. Some guys like his thumb rest, while others can't shoot it and love his classic.
-
I just spoke with Jared last week and he told me they sell more with the thumb grip. That was my question classic grip or thumb grip.

Just talked with Dan yesterday ........ mine should be in the mail in 2 weeks ......ends up being a bit sooner than expected!!! Can't wait .....probably take the day off and sit on the porch all day waiting for the truck  58" Whistler, 48# @ 28

The custom bow thing is addictive. I love getting high quality custom stuff. I budget for about 2 a year. The bulk of mine are Treadway and Primal Tech. Java man is next on the list after my next Treadway arrives.

Any report? Pics of the bow? I still anxiously waiting for Dan’s call.

Mine showed up this past May and I haven't put it down yet. To be honest, if I knew that this would be the last custom bow I'd ever be able to get and that I was stuck with my Whistler, well I'd be just fine with that! It's everything I'd want / need in a bow. The only issue is that I don't have a twin to go right with it, but that issue will be short lived as I'm going to contact Dan very soon and order another. 58" whistler, traditional grip with beaver wrap, 48# @ 28". Can't say enough good about it
