Title: TD Bear fans- New "Bare Foot" photos
Post by: Kirkll on March 27, 2022, 09:55:49 PM
There are a lot of TD Bear fans out there, and i have been building aftermarket limbs for quite a few years now to fit your Bear risers. These are available in #2 & #3 lengths in both my SS RC design and the Hybrid long bow design. I've had some excellent reviews on these limbs and they are listed on my website.

This last year i came out with a riser i call the "Bare Foot" riser. These are a unique design that does not use the flip latch hardware, but you can mount stock TD Bare limbs on, as well as order custom limbs built.

The original design i came up with used no hardware at all, but i had some issues with hair line cracks appearing on the limb butt caps that i found unacceptable. These have been field tested and have been proven to be very nice set ups. But i felt the need to revise the limb mount system to something better.

This new limb mount system has standard limb bolts with rubber washers that hold the limbs in place, with the addition of being able to adjust the tiller. Once the limbs are set up and tillered, they simply slide into the pocket with no adjustment needed. So taking them down and reassembly is very quick and no tools or adjustment necessary. These work much like an ILF system, only you can use your own TD Bear limbs, or my custom TD "Bare" limbs.

Another addition is that these risers come in 4 different sizes. I build the standard  "A" & "B"  lengths which are 15.5"  & 19.5", and have added an "A+"  which is 17.5"   and a "B+" length which is 21.5" in length.  The "A+" is becoming real popular, and i'm taking orders now.

Here is a video i did on the assembly and set up of a new "B+" riser....   Enjoy....   Kirk

Here is another one with Hybrid limbs. This one has a "HD Chomaply" footed riser.  This is some incredible material too. It's made in USA from very thin birch laminations and the high density is very similar to Dymond wood,  and gives the riser good mass weight. I stock 4 different colors. This one is Charcoal & Black.  "B" riser length. I also have a dark brown and a Rosewood color that is called Winewood.

Thanks Kenny .

I’ve heard a lot of Bear fans that were hunters say they wished they had a riser length between the A & B size so I thought I would give it a go.

As soon as I came up with an “A+ 17.5” prototype, I was asked about something longer. So I  came out with the “B+ 21.5”. I’m not going to be  building the C length. There is no demand for that riser length.

Here is one with HD Chromaply with a rosewood I-beam that still has the original limb pocket design. I’m going to be upgrading this one to the adjustable limb bolt design in the near future, and building more limbs.

Here is another one going to France for Phillipe Saluzzo.   62" RC with a "B" riser length made from Ironwood.  This one has a custom grip a wee bit higher wrist that my std grips. This one also has an overlay with a with accent line that was requested.

Cool concept, and nice work. I just prefer the original Kodiak takedown version. No tools required.

I like the way the limbs are "recessed" into the riser.  Have a Howatt TD that is built like that, makes it look more "one piece".

Cool concept, and nice work. I just prefer the original Kodiak takedown version. No tools required.

Actually there are no tools required after the initial set up. The string comes off, put it in your pack, put the limbs back on effortlessly with no flip latch hardware.

The advantage of having these bolts are being able to adjust tiller just like an ILF set up. Once it’s set, it stays there.

Another advantage is these come in 4 different sizes. A , A+, B, and B+. With custom grip options too.

Kirk do you still make the very first one that had the g-10 ear that was held in by pressure? That was a slick design.

Kirk do you still make the very first one that had the g-10 ear that was held in by pressure? That was a slick design.

I had issues with that design on heavier draw weights bro.... I used a 1/4-20 stainless steel screw to hold that ear, then capped it with G-10. The problem was that even thought the screw held the pressure just fine, the g-10 cap developed a hair line crack in the finish.  No worries on failure, but a design flaw never the less.....

So to answer your question, No i wont build them like that any more, even though i still have a few out there that are holding up fine.       Kirk
