Title: loud bow
Post by: Ian johnson on May 04, 2008, 09:05:00 PM
I have an awesome Mikuta td recurve that is the bow I most acurately shoot with, theres just one problem, its loud!, currently it has a set of bowhush, hushpuppies, and mink fur, its still has a loud twang sound to it, adding the bowhush helped a lot!, but I think its still to loud to hunt with, what else can I try?, what about those mushroom looking things that stick on the back of the limb?

How about trying a different string/material?

string material for sure...also play with brace height.... that can make a major difference...shoot heavier arrows... even the way you grip the bow can change the sound...good luck bud..

Your brace height could play a roll...and a nock point too low.

Rubber brush buttons sometimes add to the problem.

nocks that are too tight on the string can cause a loud twang.  filed down mine and noise was reduced by more than half.

all of the above.... the other thing is to have someone else listen.  Many times, people have thought their bow was loud when it really was quiet to a person standing right next to them.  Sometimes the shoother just believes it because he is connected to the bow.
