Title: Are Ya Huntin' for a Good Cause????
Post by: Terry Green on May 04, 2008, 07:44:00 PM
Would you like to?????

I'd like to introduce you to the St Jude's Rover Gals for 2008/2009....Miss Hope and Faith Of Black Mountain!!! Brent Rudolph of Black Mountain Bows has stepped up and donated the bows for this years effort, and did an outstanding job let me tell ya!       :notworthy:              :notworthy:              :notworthy:

Hope is right handed, 50", 53@28 with bocote and bamboo limbs. Riser is laminated osage and bocote with same overlays and osage underlays on the
limbs.

Faith is a lefty, 50", 52@28 with bocote back, boo core, osage belly limbswith bocote underlays. Osage and bocote laminated riser.

Both have tanned beaver tail shelf coverings, and black phenolic, osage, and American bison horn tips. The laminates on the bow's risers alternate. One has more osage than the other, one has more bocote than the other.  The bows will again be shipped in a hard case.

Inside the case is a hard back journal to list name, date, location and animal if taken and you can even add a hero photo if you like.  And a schedule list of names, addresses, and dates of hunters so we'll know who's got it when and where she goes next.

The twins will travel around North America hunting for a year with different Trad Gang members. At the end of the year each bow with her respective journal will be put up on our 2009 St Jude's Auction. Each hunter could also offer up the arrow he or she used to the St Jude's if they'd like, or they could keep it themselves as a memento. That option would be up to the individual. We will try and schedule the bows with hunting seasons by region. As of right now the gals would be hunting turkeys and spring bears, but when those seasons ends they'd be chasing hogs in states where the season is year round...and in the fall the gals would roam regions with shorter big game seasons like up north or out west. Anyway, we are going to keep them in hunting season all year.

A sticky post to the top of the PowWow will keep track of their adventures and travels.

Everyone on the list would be allowed to have the bow for a total of 10 days...this would allow for 2 days of practice/set up, 2 days of shipping, and a buffer day. Each member that gets drawn to hunt with the bow would need to commit to shipping the bow 2nd Day Air to the next member. This way we can get two members hunting with each gal a month. The bow could also be scheduled to go on a hunt where several members are attending...like a TX Sweat hunt, Shawn's Bunny Hunt, etc, where more members would have a chance to hunt with it. We would also like for everyone that hunts with the bow take their picture with it no matter if they took an animal or not....and tell about the adventures of hunt.

With all that said, we'd like to graciously thank Brent Rudolph for donating the bows. Tip of the hat to you Sir!

If you would like to hunt with one of these bows, please email Dick 'rabbitman' Easter and include what you are wanting to hunt. If you are right handed PLEASE include "HOPE" in your email title, and if you are left handed PLEASE include "FAITH" in your email. That way we can file those emails in their own separate folder for less confusion, and we'll schedule the best we can. BTW, you must be over 21 years old to participate AND be a regular participating member to qualify.

The Bows leave out June 1st...and the last two weeks will be the last two weeks of May 2009.

Please email Dick Easter directly at....

reaster@woh.rr.com

Again, please note in the email when you want to hunt with the bow, and what animal. We are splitting months in half.....1st two weeks and 2nd two weeks of each month. AND!!! Make sure you include your name, handle and member number when emailing Dick.

Pics posted below.

Thanks,

Trad Gang Admin

Thanks to Mike and Jason for the custom lams. Said it before, but these guys do incredible work. Mike even got off into his personal stash to grind the lams used in these bows. I know it hurt something fierce Mike, but it is going to a good cause.

I wish all the the hunters the best of luck with the gals this year. I hope you enjoy shooting them as much as I enjoyed building them for such a noble cause.

I would also like to thank Ted Krause, owner of Yellowstone Gateway Sports in Livingston and Bozeman Montana for donating the cases the girls will be traveling in. I would appreciate it if some took the time to drop him a thank you at ygsted@msn.com

It is going to be an exciting year.

Great looking bows! I just reserved Faith for the last 10 days of November. Any Lefty in the NY tri-state/Eastern PA/Western MA area is welcome to shoot it during that time, as long as you're not "crowding" my hunting time with it.    :D

I'd love to see both of them at Denton Hill (ETAR) again. Getting a chance to shoot hope there last year was awesome.

Can somebody make that happen?

Myself and JL will be there from Wednesday to Sunday and we always seem to get a Tradgang shoot together on Saturday around 12 or 1 so I'm sure we'll do it again.

I'll send the request right out and try and get Hope there. Someone else will have to cover Faith because I ain't left handed!
