Good day,
New member so please be patient with my dumb question.
I recently got my hand on a broken custom takedown bow. One of the limb is snapped, but otherwise the bow look to be in good shape.
Just from looking at how the bow pockets are shaped, it's not something an Amazon or Ebay massed produced limbs will fit perfectly. I 'guess' I can try to drill holes to those limbs to make it fit, its something I might do if no other solutions.
But I don't really want to do that to something that is hand made with character and craftmanship. Its like putting Corolla wheels on a 68 Mustang.
Maybe once I'm retire I would have time to make my own bow/limbs, but right now I'm considering asking a bowyer to make just limbs. Is that a pretty common request to ask a bowyer? If not, how much would that cost? Thank you.

I think you could ask. But most bowyers build their limbs to custom fit risers they build. And to be honest, they aren't inexpensive. Do you know the make of the bow, any markings, pics of the set up? There are a few bowyers on here who might could give you a better opinion.

Yes sir.
It is a CornStalker USA bow by Allen Corn. Look like made in 1999. I cannot find much information about him except he was in Tennessee, only mention I can find about him was a mention on a video that Jimmy Blackmon posted. I think he is the gentleman in the teal sweater but I have no contact information. At first it look like a copy of a Black Widow, but just from my eye's calculation, its not going to fit them.

Amazon and fleebay don't make limbs or bows. Ask the maker of the bow plain and simple. Best of luck.

I would first talk to the bowyer. He may not have a CNC to shape riser and limb butts...Every bow from their shop may be close but could be just a little different. He may want you to send him the riser and old limbs for a better fit. He may still use the same drill jigs or maybe not??

Absolutely you could respectfully ask a bower to put new limbs on that riser. But most of them will probably respectfully decline to do it. There is no telling how the riser was machined and it wouldn't be an easy job to do..... The new limbs would have to be mounted on the riser and shaped to the riser by hand...... but i suppose you might find someone to do it.... Arlo
