Yep, here in the south we like to BBQ our wild game for sure, but our rubs and spices don't like the humidity and can often gunk up, even the ones in the glass bottles!!! BUT! there is a remedy....
No need to throw away gunked up goodies when you can fix them with a bit of 225 degree heat for about 30 minutes. Either in the oven or on the grill. You can do it with them by themselves or while cooking a meal. The grill is a little more fun, and smells better as I'm cooking as well. :goldtooth:
After the 30 minutes, I put them in my coffee grinder or my wife's smoothie maker, which ever on I run across 1st...
All done ....
BTW, the Shifty twins will be joining us in TX for the two weeks.... wish us luck!

HA! I'm sure there will be a 'review' on the spices during the hunt like ya'll did for Backwoods Grind. Can't wait. :clapper:

HA! Nice lift for this morning
I love to grill out my wild game and this will certainly come in handy. The shifty twins are great. Classic on beef, and red on pork, amongst many other things with either/or.
Thanks for sharing :campfire:

You can always save the food safe dessicant packets that come with some food items and put a few into your Shifty's Shaker. Your way works also. I have done that deliberately with brown sugar. When making my BBQ rub, I dry out the brown sugar, then put it into coffee mill, just used for spices, and turn it into a powder. It incorporates much easier into the rub and does not stick to your hands as much when rubbing it on.

Terry, I plan to smoke a couple pork butts to bring along to Texas on the second trip. You will have plenty of pork to try the Shifty’s on…

Yes Zee, The Twins are going to TX.
The red is great on pork, and we can add some at the table for sure to pre smoked BBQ! Not to mention what we kill n grill! :campfire: :campfire: :campfire:
