Maybe will have to use pm since this question is off topic.

rehydrate with a spray bottle and rebrake as needed, over a sharp edge.
-
Thanks!
No more tanning solution-right?
After rehydrating and braking, would Neatsfoot oil help?
-
i wouldnt think so, if it was thoroughly tanned.
-
You need to break it as arrow30 said. It’s work. Coulda had it garment tanned for almost nothing and they woulda tumbled it.
-
Do a facebook search on Laughing coyote project, they show how to soften hides and it works very well, some of the finest brain tanned buckskin I have ever seen.
-
Thanks for the tips, guys. Where do I go for the tumbling processing?
-
You need to tumble when it’s still wet after the regular tanning process. Best thing now is break over table or something I’d think

Cable it.
Get a 1/4 inch or so braided steel cable--NO OIL. About 5, 6 feet or so depending upon set up needs. Fix one end up high the other end down low. Wrap hide around cable once like a towel around your back. One end of hide in each hand. Pull back and forth with some vigor. Aline the rough/hard edges as best yea can so they are getting worked properly.
