CA glue, wood glue or epoxy? I want to add some wood overlays on the front of the handle.
-
EA40
-
As Roy said.
-
I use ea 40 and made a small form with air hose.
-
Do all your overlays before rounding your riser ;)
-
CA Sets to fast, so it's extremely hard to have enought pressure over the full Overlay in that Seconds.
I have done some with CA, but it's very thrilling because of the very small time window.
So Smooth on or an other Epoxy will be the best choice.

Yep, and CA is harder than EA40 thus harder to blend to the glass or bow...

I have a few short forms like Bue with ea40
-
Used EA40, heavy piece of industrial rubber hose. Did it while riser was still flat.
Cured at 185 for 2 hours.

Looking good. You are working fast. :)

By the looks of things your a good craftsmen

yes
His first time shaping a riser he did a good job
-
I guess it's ok:)

Thanks guys! Here is a pic after some tung oil.

Looking good.
-
That looks great with the accent stripes through all the contours.

Wow that made it pop
That thing looks huge in the pics, is it heavy?
-
It is 17' riser. Weighs less than the riser I used as a pattern. That riser was half g10 or something similar. I am not going to clear it yet.
I still need to go back and take some more off the grip. Will shoot it some more to make sure it is right.
-
I like that you left the ends bulky... The more weight out on the ends will help to stabilize your shot... I am more about function over form... Looks awesome...
-
Shred, I have been toying with the idea of epoxying in some brass weights and then overlay on top of them to hide them.
Not too heavy but this may be my 3D comp bow for the upcoming year.
-
I say, do it... Maybe not even cover the brass... Let it show... Dare to be different...
-
Hmm, now I need to find someone to do some engraving... round brass with an engraved , exposed face...
Your a bad influence! :biglaugh:

I think you need to use G10 on the next one for the threads on the sides
-
The small threads for the dovetails or for some quiver screws?
On very small threads like the dovetail, drill the hole, fill it with CA, then when dry chase the hole again and tap.
For threads in wood that do not get use a bunch, this works real well. As long as it is a wood that soaks up the super thin CA well
-
I was talking about the limb adjustment side to side
-
Got ya. If the CA stabilized threads don't hold, I can epoxy some brass inserts in.
If I continue to make ILF risers, G10 pads are a great idea. Might be possible to premachine them with some locator pins then epoxy them on .
