Title: Sturgeon over bamboo
Post by: mmgrode on May 02, 2008, 04:56:00 PM
Hey Gang,
I'm looking to put some sturgeon skins on a bamboo backed bow and was curious how I would need to prepare the bamboo for this procedure.  Do I need to completely remove the rind or just rough it up? Is there a certain glue I should use beside TBII, or is this recommended?  It should look pretty cool once it's finished.  Thanks guys, Matt

You just need to rough up the rind.  TBII or TBIII will work.

Do you rough it up with sandpaper(what grit?) or a toothing iron?  Thanks Dan

Sorry I don't have an answer to your question, but please post pics of that sturgeon skin bow once you do it. I bet that will be cool!

Cool, thanks Salvatore!  You got it Jerry!  It will be the elk bow for this fall.  Matt
