I think the red is from a old tree and the name people use trying to sell boards :thumbsup:

Post by: Flem on October 12, 2021, 08:00:35 PM: I was just reading about Sweetgum on WoodData base. Apparently the sap and heartwood go by different names. Redgum is the heartwood. It says it has fine texture and interlocked grain. Its really lite for a hardwood.
Sounds like some snappy limb material to me :deadhorse:

A friend on mine in SC works for a company that makes the lams for plywood. Sweet gum is one of the trees they use. It's actually a pest tree on southern pine plantations.
