Which model did you order?  The original longbow has narrow limbs that are thicker thru the core.  The Defiant is a thinner, wider limb with a pretty good amount of reflex/deflex built in.  The Dauntless has more of the reflex/deflex profile of the Defiant limbs, but are again narrower and thicker, similar to the original.  Hope that makes sense.

Got a Dauntless a couple of months ago and love it.  Comfortable grip, smooth draw, and pretty fast.  I just can't believe I'll be bringing this beauty into the woods.

String Cutter:  I have the D-shaped bow and like it alot.  Had Dave build it with bamboo lams and myrtle veneers.  Very smooth and quite quick.  Sorry, I don't have pix.  The Defiant and Dauntless are more hybrid in shape, i.e., greater reflex/deflex.  Will likely be slightly faster.  They all shoot well.  Just a matter of what you like to carry.

jacobsladder, I believe it's bocote. Not sure though. That's the one on the left of the right picture and the one on the left of the left picture is yellow heart riser with bamboo limbs. I actually only own the yellow heart bow. This was a picture that Dave sent me when I bought it. These were some he had made up and I didn't want to wait 4 - 6 months. It was very hard to choose just one. If I'd had the money I'd bought all three. Dave makes a great bow.

Since the Dauntless shoots faster cause of the R/D limbs, Could I order lighter limbs?? say 3-4 lbs lighter and get the same preformance as the Longbow shooting 60#??
This is going to be my elk hunting bow.... Need the power but would like to keep it light enough to shot 30-50 times a day.

Thought I would chime in here.  Dave is a real personable guy.  He always has bows in his shop to sell but will build a bow to your specs, expect about a 4 month wait.  Of the dauntless and defiant, the handles are identical.  However, if you require something special, he can custon make a handle specific for your grip.  That said, I love the wayu his bows feel in my hand.  They are really awesome, point and shoot bows.  I ahve a 62 inch defiant.  I love it, but my favorite is a 64 inch dauntless he made for the 2006 wisconsin traditional archers.  It is so smooth, and shoots quickly.  It is not blazing, but has good speed, like 170 fps for a 530 grain arrow.  It is 54 at 28, I shoot a 29 1/2 inch draw.  However, with boo cores, it quicks a bow up nicely.  I wish mine had them.

Give him a call, I think you will be glad you did.

Good luck,

Bob.

I have the defiant. Sorry no pictures
It is 62" 54# at 28"
Blood wood and ash.
Very nice shooting bow and nice grip.
I like my recurves and am thinking of letting this go when I figure out how to do pictures.
Dave is a very personable guy to talk to and do not forget sue, she does all the leather work. Makes nice quivers also.

I like her quivers as well as I like his bows.  That is to say they are both great.  I have a defiant.  I shot it better than I did the dauntless in the day I test drove it so that is what I ordered.  Great bow.

The Dwyer is one bow that exceeded my expectations.  Bought mine from Anvil (great person to deal with) here on TradGang awhile back...62", 49#@28"...and it feels three pounds lighter on the draw.  Nicely finished, attractive, comfortable grip, very smooth (boo lams) and quick for the weight.  I'm well-satisfied with it.

Here's the Original I bought from Varmint (also a great person to deal with, one of the best) here a few weeks ago. Same as TSP said - love this bow!

I'm torn between the dauntless that I have on order and the defiant???? I want the narrow limbs of the dauntless but want a D shaped longbow 62 inches.... But from what I can gather the defiant has more of a flatbow type limb... which I really don't like...

I ordered this bow from Dave and love it. It's the Dauntless in Cocobola and Ash 50@28 (my draw)
Clear glass, Bamboo cores, and Micarta tips. Lin

Can't beat Dwyer longbows!  I own 2 Defiant's, a Dauntless, and an Original.  I think I like the original best but it is my lightest bow and don't use it for hunting much.  They all are great though.

Nate how wide are the limbs on the Defiant???? I understand that the other 2 models have narrower limbs then the run of the mill longbow... are the Defiant's about normal width for a longbow???

I have a new bamboo Dauntless and love it , also have his standard longbow and that too is a great bow. My wife has his standard bow in tulip wood, light as a feather, you cant pry this bow away from her. Dave makes a great bow, and some of the best tip overlays i have seen.

Can some one tell me how much wider are the Defiant limbs compared to the Dauntless'???

Best advice I can give is call Dave, he's always more than happy to talk bows and hunting, He's good people.
I can't help you out with the Dauntless, but the Defiant I have.  Limbs 1.5 inches at the widest point tappered to 5/8 just below tip overlays.  Bought my defiant '04 Juniper limbs, sassafrass core, Bolivian Rosewood handle with osage accent stripe, beautiful...52#@28", I draw 27 1/4.  Very smooth draw, love the bow, first year out spike bull elk fell to a homemade cedar carrying a zwicky eskimo 2 blade, 17 yards quartering away, double lung. only went 20 yards!  Biggest thrill of my life to that point!

And the Defiants limbs are definately wider than standard longbow, not as deep, and not trappezoid in cross section

Sounds Like the Defiant isn't a longbow at all but a flatbow???? With 1 1/2 inch limbs???
My J.D. Berry longbow is only 1 inch at the widest point and my Yellowstone longbow is only 1 1/16th.....
