Well went to the Orthopedic guy this morning. He thinks I may have a torn rotator cuff, my left shoulder !! Going to try therapy first and see what happens! Right as the season is beginning, so it goes !! Good news is I can still shoot…… :dunno:

Praying for you Ron!

Sorry to hear that Ron.
I went thru something similar a couple years ago. I couldn’t put my jacket on without experiencing pain. Listen to your physical therapist. I did that and did the exercises religiously and I came out of it after a few months in pretty good shape.
Praying for you as well. Take good care of yourself.

Ron years back I had rotator cuff tears among all sorts other stuff. Years of powerlifting and shooting heavy bows didn’t do me good. . They wanted to cut me I declined and did rehab. I have a high pain tolerance but it def hurt, I couldn’t sleep w throbbing so whatever you’re going through I understand. 18 years later I’m still good. Hang in there

Been there done that. Took almost a year to get me shooting again and went from 65lb down to 45lb bows. I was working out and decided to do pull ups. Bad move.
Get well soon.

Well that's no fun for sure. Do the rehab, limit your reps shooting and make each shot count.
Aging and breaking down is the most humbling part of life.

After my surgery an older fellow, not that I’m a young guy but he told me when he was a boy an old man told him,
“Life is a series of adjustments”
we just gotta adjust. That’s what the op should do imo not give up hope on anything. The only thing that comes from not trying is zero chance of something good happening. String bow, lighter bow, as GCook stated, shoot less but make every shot count. If need be readjust your effective range as well temporarily.

Hang in there Ron W. In 2013 I was in an accident on a tractor that tore off all 4 heads of the rotator cuff and also the longhead of my bicep tendon. With surgery they could only repair two of the heads to about 30%. That was the two that I needed to hold a bow out with my left arm. The other two were repairable to 90% The doctor said archery would be totally out of the question. The only option I had was to switch to shoot lefthanded. Made the switch and at 68 years old I shoot just about every day. Making that switch at age 60 took some time, but it is doable. I had to drop down a little in bow weight, but am able to shoot 45 and 50 lb. bows left handed and can even shoot 35 lb. bows right handed. Hope your situation isn't as bad as mine, but keep the faith. There are always options.

Sorry to hear that Ron. Go nice and easy, and try to squeeze out a season, then go in for a full evaluation.

Thanks for all the positive comments, good news is I can still shoot, and I do shoot both sides !!

Welcome to the club Ron. The girls where I go for physical therapy call me "A repeat offender". I have had both shoulders, one twice, worked on, both knees, and both hands. Maybe I am finally learning to behave myself, the girls may not even recognize me if I have to go back. I need to stop by there and tell them I have no new injuries to report. Good luck with your rehab.
