Title: ? CARBONWOOD EXPERTS
Post by: Robert Honaker on February 14, 2007, 06:33:00 PM
I'm gettin low on shafts for my 55lb Super Kodiak, wanna try carbons.Shawn Leonardo told me that carbonwood 3000's would work for a bow I have on order that's 52lb@29in,my true draw.I draw the SK TO 55@ 28IN because it stacks like crazy,do ya think 3000's will work for both as long as I tune to each?

I used 3000's in my #52 BW, and use 3000's in my #53 & #56 Zippers. I have also used them in my #51 Vortex LB. Other than woodies they are my favorite for that kind of poundage. Had very little trouble tuning. I needed no extra weights up front other than a 125 gr. or 145 gr. point. Using 3 5" parabolics. I also used 5575 GT's. There allright but I would trade them for more 3000's.

Pm sent! I should also say that for them to bareshaft properly you will need to add weight, they spine over 72#s. Shawn

Yes, I want to try and shoot a magnus 125 with a 100-125gr insert.I had some 4000's before and never did get enough op front, even with brass insert and steel adapters.

Jeez, Shawn...the 3000's spine out at #72?  I've been shooting 4000's cut to "30 with 200 grns up front out of my #67 Robertson...not perfect, but not bad...

I'm a big fan of the shafts, by the way, great finish...realtively durable...consistent...good value...in my book way more consistent than the GT 55/75's Trads I also shoot with 225 up front...

Cutty, The 4000's spine out about 85#,but I've had a few as low as 78# and as high as 95#!!!  But the vast majority 85#....I find that with all carbon shafts,if you want to be picky, you have to get a spine tester on them....a lot on inconsistancy's...but once you get a bunch matched up...good stuff!!
