I've switched to wood arrows after shooting carbons for years, and I'm really enjoying them.
So far I'm just coating them with wipe on poly, which is fine, but I'd like to make some "cooler" arrows. I appreciate the awesome cresting some folks do, but I'm drawn to something a little more "primitive" or "tribal" looking.
I find flame cresting really interesting. Shriver's flame cresting templates now seem to be un-obtainable. I'm curious if any of you have ever contrived something similar, and how it worked out for you.

A friend of mine came up with this arrow using aniline dye combined with regular cresting paint. The aniline dye runs and blends, and in my mind results in a flamed effect that I like.
