Anyone have an American Archery Products arrow saw? Opinions? Is it junk, or a decent saw?
I went ahead and ordered a 5000 rpm model for $69.95. It's a dang site cheaper than a comparable Apple. I figured I'd have $40 or $50 in a homemade rig if I bought a Harbor Freight chop-saw, along with the abrasive blades, so it wasn't much more.
I'm shooting aluminum and carbon right now, and don't plan on building over a dozen or two arrows per year.
I am interested in this saw as well, would like to hear some opinions.
Curtis, pm me with where you purchased this saw, as I've seen it advertised in different places. Thanks...Mike
How I do it ...
For cutting aluminum shafts I use a mini tubing cutter. A few light twists of a tapered reamer cleans up the cut end very nicely.
For carbon shafts I use a Dremel carbide cut off wheel and do it free-hand, by eye. You'd be surprised how accurate that can be. After cutting, I lightly twist the cut end over a stationary sander wheel with 120 grit, or simply use a hand held sanding block, to true up (if necessary).
In all cases I install the point inserts with slow set epoxy, which fills any ultra minute gaps 'tween insert and shaft end. Never ever had a problem with the many, many hundreds of shafts I've processed over the decades.
YMMV.
PM'd ya Moose...
Thanks Rob. I ordered the saw before I posted. Was just looking for some opinions from anyone who has one.
Back to the front page for prime time.
...anyone???
