Model#205124740 is what I got before at Home Depot.
Last year or so HD quit caring it. but I googled the mod# and could not find it anywhere .
Today I found it at the link below, shipping was $5.00 for 1 box, sounds fishy, option to pay when delivered. So I ordered it.
Kind of sounded like a scam but no payment until delivered for $47.66 + shipping $5.00 :dunno:
I will get a email from them tomorrow and see what's up.
Maybe just me, but I thought I could not get it anymore without shipping being out of site.
I still have about 5 boards

Big Jim has the bamboo planks at a good price. Quality stuff to.
-
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY, IT SEEMS TO BE A SCAM.
My order is COD so I will see what happens
-
COD will help, just did a search on them, they have some bad reviews.
Check out the material first before accepting it.
-
-
Is this stuff the same as the material called "Action Boo"?
-
Yes
-
Is there a preference for this material over home milled Bamboo, or is it more convenient?
-
Have you ever looked at bamboo plywood? It comes in different thicknesses and grain orientation.

The reason people were using Vertical Bamboo floor was you could order it online from Lowes or Home Depot and pick it up at your local store no shipping. 1 box was 24.12 sq. ft. and weight was about 60lb.
Boo floor for homes is not that popular anymore so you have to pay the shipping to get it now, and lowes/HD will not order it any more.
Yes you can get some lams from several Sponsors on here.
I think I paid 70.00 for 1 box and made a bunch of bow with it. low cost
-
I think Chad Holm told me he bought 4x8 sheets of vertical plywood but I haven’t found a source .
-
Ambient bamboo floors. They’re in Maryland.
Westwindhardwood.com. In BC, Canada.
There are others too. I would imagine that buying it in sheet form might be cost effective. You might be able to get it cut into boards for cheaper shipping.
Dave.

Mark, try Northwest Bamboo...or something like that. I think they are in Portland, OR. I bought boo flooring from him years ago. He had horizontal, vertical and caramelized of either.
-
Big Jim has it. I paid 168 for 6 planks 11.5x36x maybe .750. If you have it shipped it get $$$$ly. I picked mine up at Tradfest no shipping and may get some more at Cloverdale and save shipping.

OK I get that it was attractive when it was readily available and relatively cheap, but since that does not seem to be the current status, what's the attraction?
-
Strong and light weight.
-
For me it’s the best core wood
-
It is more repeatable on bow weights since it is a laminated product. I think it performs a bit better than actionwood also... JMO

Damn you guy's :banghead: Guess I'm going to have to try some. Now where to find it cheap...........

I think Kenny can fix you up with some lams.
-
Its not real cheap!! A chunk from Big Jim might be the best way to get yer feet wet on it.
-
Also the way it's made there is not gonna be grain run out a plus for building curves
-
Actually I just saw some last week, along with a bunch of other assorted flooring down at our local Habitat for Humanity. You guys need to check alternative resources. C-list for materials, building recycle stores, etc.
-
Hey Flem Habitat for Humanity is where I got mine years ago, all together about 8 box's vertical bamboo flooring, did'nt pay more than 5 to 10 bucks a box. Still have plenty for the rest of my bow making projects.
-
I’ve ordered it and had it shipped. Basically I called and discussed how I wanted it ripped and packaged and shipped to maximize product shipped vs cost. So if I remember correctly they sent like strips cut out of sheets and so the packaging was good. Heck I am still going through it.

That was a good score  I need to go back when they open the retail shop this week and see if it's vertical. Although I don't know why it would matter if it was manufactured vertical or horizontal, it's a bunch of little strips and a lot of glue lines either way.
-
Flem you want the vertical not the horizontal, vertical is full uncut strips glued together the horizontal is alot of little pieces glued together, I know from my experience that the horizontal will not hold up, maybe for a short time but I would not trust it.
-
Can someone post pictures of vertical and horizontal so I will know how to identify it if I run across it somewhere?

My whole meaning for this Topic was.
Picking it up at your Local Lowes or Home Depot with NO shipping cost for a 60# box.
I could get 2 to 3 bows out of each board. good stuff
-
Shipping can be a deal killer for sure. That flooring was popular for time. I wonder if the big stores don't stock it any longer because the popularity wore off? Or maybe they are waiting for the Bamboo forests to catch up with demand :biglaugh:

Reply #9 has s black box that says the image is no longer available. :dunno:

Cut the lams like this
(https://i.imgur.com/iaysx03.jpg)
The horizontal I saw had filler wood under the top layer of boo, not any good
-
I think the picture might be a little misleading depending on the manufacturer, the finished face may show the horizontal pieces glued jointed the whole vertical way only, but underneath it is glue jointed horizontally also throughout, this I found out by looking at the unfinished back side of the board, or if you cut the top layer off you can see how the inside is jointed vertical and horizontal, how ever the finished top layer if not jointed horizontally can be used if thick enough. I think the vertical is still better for strength and performance.
-
I may add that the vertical bamboo Flooring I have is solid unjointed edged grain strips the full length or the board, that's not to say all manufacture's do it that way. Of course any joints in the lam horizontally will make a good breaking point.
