My son will be 6 in a few weeks and I’d like to get him a “real” bow (his terms). He’s used to shooting a plastic bow and is pretty handy with it but it’s time to upgrade. I’m a bit list on length and weight for his age but I do know he’s left handed! Any advise is welcome as well as who I could purchase one from. Thanks in advance.

I suggest Mike McCredy at Maddog Bows. He made one for two of my Granddaughters to share, and it's beautiful, and shoots like a dream. I just told him their ages, and left the particulars up to him. We got a 48 inch bow, 20 pounds at 26 inches, and they can both handle it well. They are ages 12 and 9.

I think it’s really hard too beat the old fiberglass bows for kids and the big auction site is loaded with them.

Maddog is an excellent choice.

I got my son a Maddog Pup, and it is a sweet little bow... it doesn’t get any more “real bow” than that. I believe it’s $105 shipped, which is hard to beat.

St Joe Bows. Great folks to deal with.

I have a Maddog pup that is nice. My nephew and niece used it to good effect. This was the 48" version.

St Joe River bows!! Awesome people and great bows

Well my son has used Elk Ridge Archery and Black Rhino bows. I've also handled St Joe River kids bow and have a Maddog Prairie Predator so I say look 'em all over carefully. Look at your budget, pick one that speaks to you.
We have kept my son's very first bow an Elk Ridge Archery Pilgrim Squirt. All the rest were traded up or sold to purchase the next bow up.
Enjoy teaching the young one the flight of the arrow :archer2:

My granddaughter won a Mad Dog bow. Now my grandson shoots also. It’s very nice little bow.

Just received a maddog pup today for my 5 year olds birthday. Mike was great to deal with and crafted the bow very quickly. Nice looking, simple kids bow. I will have to get another for my other boy.
