Are any of you guys receiving any Chek-Mate Bows you have on order?
I spoke to someone that got theirs a few weeks ago that had ordered about the same time I did, but I've not received mine yet, and was just wondering if they're filling the orders yet?
Thanks!

I am still waiting for the Crusader. The company got a wood order in that did not have the correct moisture content so that added time and then the owner got sick, I was expecting my bow this month, but looks like March or April now. Chad was real good at keeping up to date.
-
That's the same thing I was told... The wood that came in wasn't dry enough, so its gonna take a little longer than normal. I'm not worried about it though... Chad has kept me updated, and has been very straight forward wit the matter. So... when I receive the Hunter II T/D... all my son will have to worry about is his form and release... NOT the craftsmanship!
It'll be worth the wait!

I"m waiting for a set of limbs order was placed
end of Jan and was told 2-3 Mo.

I'm going on a little over 8 months now. I ordered a custom Sabre takedown back at the beginning of June (a bocote and cocobolo riser). I was informed that my riser and limbs were glued up last week and it should be finished this week. Chad's been great about keeping me updated. The wood supply thing, power outages at the shop, Marc got sick, then his help got sick; a host of things have plagued them over the last 6 months or so. I don't mind things taking a bit longer if I'm kept in the loop about what's going on. Life happens.
-
Thanks for the info guys!

Chris,
Remember to give us a full report on that Sabre, pics would be nice too!
Thanks,
Jim

Having waited it out (and missed a hunting season - not a big deal, I wasn't ready anyways)for my Crusader, let me tell you IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT. Chad was excellent on updating me of the status when I pestered him, and the bow is SPECTACULAR!!!! Considering there are year+ lists for others, what Checkmate is delivering in quality is the best darn value - and fast to put it in your hands.

Glad to hear that Bob.
I have a Crusader T/D on order. Luckily I had another Chek-Mate, (Hunter56 recurve), to hunt with during the hunting season.
What wood/glass/etc., combo did you get?

I ordered a TD Hunter II in December. Can't wait to see it. I hope to have it by June/July. Realistic? I really want to be able to hunt with it in September but won't hunt it if I haven't shot it for at least a couple of months.
-
Jim....Don't worry, I haven't forgotten. I'll post some pictures and a report after I get it in and shoot it a bit. I've got your email in my address list.
-
Well... the timing for this thread is kinda funny.
After I posted on this thread... I received notice from Chad that my order, (actually... its my son's,) "Hunter II" T/D is ready. The riser is "Bolivian Rosewood" with "Chechen" accents. We ordered two sets of limbs for him as well. They are "Waterfall Babinga" with "Tamo Ash". I haven't seen pictures of it yet... but I guess it really looks nice!
So... maybe Marc is getting back on schedule after all! :clapper:

I got an email last night saying mines ready to be shipped over to Australia . I can't wait :)

I kept mine "simple" - 68" bow with cocobolo riser, and pacific yew limbs. Clear glass on the limbs and a red stripe on the actionwood core. Very pretty, and I will post some pics once I get a chance.
By the way, I think I have a quiver you made... (Stalking style - #79). Nice piece of work.
-
I Have a 56" TD Hunter (Zebrawood & Walnut with Walnut limbs) on order. Last word I got is that Marc was getting caught up, and the 4 month delivery estimate may only be 2-3....
-
So maybe there is a chance I will get my bow in early summer? I sure hope so, the wait is killing me!!! :help:
WHERE IS IT???? CHAD????
Just kidding, I can be patient.
:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Hey Bobw, Thanks! I remember you now!
Well guys, I recieved good news and bad news today about my bow:
Chad emailed me and said it was finished.
Unfortunately the glass had a streak in it, so they're gonna make me another. And the unfortunate thing about that is it'll be another two weeks.
Bummer!
That bow just ain't meant to be! LOL!
It'll probably get lost in the mail next! LOL!

Tell him to send me the streaked one to dispose of for him. My first longbow was a Cujo Special Crusader with Waterfall Bubinga lams. SWEEEEEET BOW!!!!!
-
NNNBB....short for nananabooboo...I got a Cujo Special t-Bird with tamo ash veneers and cocobolo riser...carbon castor has seen it!!
-
Whatsa cujo special?
hnh
-
Highnoonhunter,when did you order your's?
-
hnh,
It could also be called a Marc's special. Cujo is the Trad Forums name Marc often uses. What makes the bow special is the handpicked woods, veneers and accents cujo selects to use in building the bow.

A Cujo Special is a special bow made with EXTRA special woods and veneers picked by Marc as Bill said. I think they are his masterpieces. I have seen and shot Dennis' and it is a work of art. That tamo ash is breathtaking.
Hey Dennis, CALL ME!!!!!!!

Brian...am in Ottawa right now...pm me with your phone ##

We're getting back on track, slowly but surely.
The "Cujo Special" is a name I came up with several years ago for a select few bows. Once in a while Marc(aka "Cujo") will do some tinkering or experimenting. These were just things he'd do to challenge himself, or try something new, and generally was not something that could be ordered. For instance, he might glue up some veneer with pinstripes down the center, or change something in a riser to see how it worked. I was lucky to wind up with a few of these, and since they weren't regular offerings, I started calling them "Cujo Specials".
The Tamo Ash is available, and it is absolutely beautiful.

My order date is December 19, 2006. Is it too early to be antsy? LOL! There is nothing more exciting than a bow on order. Except maybe for the day it arrives.
-
Big dog, That is sweet, Mt T/D Crusader is coming with that on it.
-
that is not my bow, that is Dennis' bow from Git-r-done archery, very good looking though and I do have a 58"thunderbird on the way in the spring!
