At our annual trad 3-D "Rock Shoot" in Moses Lake, WA, I spotted this cool bow for sale. There was no make or model on the bow and the seller did not know who made it.
I showed the bow to Howattman after someone thought it was an early Howatt, but he said no.
Here are a couple pics of the only marks on the bow and a pic of the riser. It's in excellent condition, shoots pretty good,...and I think it looks cool too.
Can anyone help with make and model?
What year(s)?

Ben Pearson Palomino??
CAT Number is wrong for a Pearson though it does look a lot like a Palomino.
Looks a lot like the Herters bows in the 1962 catalog. I know the numbers are not like the ones we are used to seeing, but it looks very similar.
Killdeer :campfire:
The back and belly of the limbs are both ivory or cream colored.
Here's another pic of the strung bow:

You DID buy the bow, right? Not just take a lot of pictures to ask questions with? How does it shoot?
The white glass doesn't exactly reek of Herters. Very pretty bow, though.
Killdeer
I agree.....I hope you bought it....its a looker for an older bow no matter who made it.
Is it still for sale?
Looks like a Galaxie or perhaps a Colt...just a guess but I have a few of those that are similar. Doc
I don't care how you slice it....That is a Ben Pearson. I say a '65 or '66 Pinto. I'd bet Migrabill's dog on it. Nice bow BH.
I bet its as smooth as warm butter and hits like a hammer.
(edited...changed to Pinto....I was looking at a Colt when I typed....brain f*rt)
After doing a little looking it matches up with the Pearson Pinto pretty well. Looks like a 1962 but the numbers are wrong.
Yes, I did buy it. ;) ...and it shoots great.
I just hate to be shooting this bow and sound like a stooge :smileystooges: when someone asks, "Who made that cool looking bow?"
....uuuuhhhhh....duhhh...
It was made by Pearson no doubt. I have bows with the same hand written print. The same person did the printing. It's probably a '60 to '62 Pinto or Mustang. I forget the names right off...Van

65 & 66 Colt's with white glass were 40# and under. They used dark glass on bows over 40#
Cat# looks funny but it definately looks like a Pinto
1962 Pinto (http://www.archeryarchives.com/T1962.htm)
It may have been made for resale by a sporting good chain or such, like was done for Montgomery Wards and Sears.
Jim Pic--I edited my orignal post...semi-senior moment. Where would you like me to send Bill's dog? :readit:
Might be my eyes but looks more like the javelina to me. The pinto has a rounder window area. Fun looking bow whatever it is.
Woods and glass are wrong for a Javelina
What kind of dog is it? :bigsmyl:
It has to be a Ben Pearson
Where's Bowdoc and Droptine59 when you need them? :saywhat:
Check your hunches here:

It's a Ben Pearson and I think it's a pinto...Pretty cool looking bow....bowdoc
Looks like a Pearson to me..
Pearson
Except in the Palamino picture there are laminates in the riser at 90 degrees on the back and belly if you look closely at the little picture.
Really cool old bow, I don't care who made it , I just wish I had it!
John
another for pearson
Wow how coolis that ...sweet! Marco :)
Looks like an Addock before he discovered carbon
Printing looks identical to the printing on a couple older Pearsons I own. I'd vote for Ben.
Ron
If Van says it's a Pearson, it's a Pearson.
Looking at the pics in the link backs up what he said.
Killdeer :archer:
A longhair Dachsund. :bigsmyl:
Now that the popular vote says Ben was the manufacture....and we can all agree on that right? Looks like Ben wins....but lets add a little twist to Lon's new found bow should we ? Lets ask this...how many of us would buy a new model bow at new model prices looking just like that Ben bow does...now I think it's a cool looking bow without a dout and they do shoot great...but to buy a new model looking just like that for lets just say around 1,000.00....not me... how about you ??? bowdoc
...and if it's an Adcock you ordered, you will wait 5 years. :knothead:
My ititial impression when I saw the bow was "that's gotta be from the 60's"...and "the bowyer must be an old man with a ponytail smoking weed." Yep, a "hippy bow." :goldtooth:
Pearson! No doubt! I've had several of them in my collection over the years.
Hey I ai'nt got no ponytail !!!!!!!!!!! bowdoc
Just curious, What is the value of a Pearson Pinto in decent shape? A friend of mine just sent one home with me last night to tune it as he was having trouble with arrow flight, I thought it was a great shooter and he just needs to match it up with the correct arrows. The bow is 55#@28". If given the opportunity to buy it, I'd like to be able to pay him a fair price. Thanks, any replies would be appreciated.
A Pinto made for Mongomery Wards would explain the serial number.
I'd never bet for a long haired dachshound. I like 'em a little bigger and closer to prototype.
Long haireed, eh.
Hippy dog. :archer:
Jeff, can you post pics of the Pinto?
value...
Blackhawk, I'll take some and get them posted, May take me a day or two as it's been raining.

Are you saying that I know what I'm talking about?? :scared:
You don't know what you're talking about! :wavey:
Bowdoc couldnt make a ponytail with a set of tweezers
