Hey guys and gals I wanted to post and say "hello" and introduce myself. I've been hanging around for a couple of months doing a lot of reading and learning. Grew up hunting with a rifle and love the chase. Married to true gem for over a dozen years now and have a beautiful two year old daughter. Spent '03-'07 overseas with the USMC serving as a chaplain and have tried to get back into gun hunting since getting back but the excitement just isn't there anymore. Since compounds never have appealed to me and after rolling it around for several years I've taken the plunge into traditional archery. Got a 45# @ 27" Brushbow on order with Mark Horne and it should be here in June. In the meantime I am using a Bowfit to work on the right muscles and I've added weights to my normal cardio workout. Currently stationed in CT and have tried to locate all reasonably close arhery shops/ranges that have trad archery gear I can shoot. Continuing to read all I can and look forward to joining the Gang and learning from you. Thanks I'll keep you posted as I begin the journey.
Alan

Welcome Padre. If you're stationed in Ct. there's a good chance that you're either in the USN or USCG. We have all you need at our proshop, the biggest and best in the country right in Manchester Ct. PM me for that info as we are not a sponsor.(nut)
AlanF, If you are free the weekend of May 16-18, there is a real nice traditional shoot in Stockbridge MA called the Buckhorn Traditional Archery Rendezvous. There would be plenty of bows to try out. If interested give me a PM or check Trad Events. I could even bring a Horn Bush bow for you to shoot..Doc

Welcome Alan,
Where are you stationed in Ct? I have family in the New London / Montville area. I make several trips up there a year. If you are close by maybe we can get together and fling some arrows.
I know of a couple Traditional shops here in north Jersey but I don't know of any in Ct.
Larry
