I am wondering about the safaris carbon tech species:
- what is their spine deflection?
- is there a stiff and a weak side just like on the grizzlystick shafts?
- what is the external diameter of them (in millimeters)?
- would a 100gr gold tip brass insert fit inside them?
- what kind of nocks can be used on them?
thanks for sharing
If I recall correctly, spine deflection on the ones I have are right around .100...I can recheck that tonight to be sure.
There is very little variance of spine around the diameter as with griz shafts.
I don't have a micrometer any more but I can get you a rough measurement.
If the gold tip insert is the standard size that will fit all carbons, yes it will fit the CT safari.
Again, standard interior shaft diameter so regular easton nocks etc. work fine. This is a straight, non-tapered shaft.
Heavy as a brick of lead (I think 15.5gr/in) and I've yet to hurt one with high performance bows up to 70#'s (that's about as high as I shoot). Very good shaft...just danged expensive.
thanks JC...so the shaft diameter should be less large than a broadhead's ferule? I just need you confirm the deflection and after I will order my first dozen
helppppppp !
Their stated deflection is .200" and they weigh 15.5 grains per inch. More information is shown below.

Sorry...I was off by bit: they spine .180 (or 145# conventional) on my spine meter, just a hair over 5/16" diameter. They are just slightly smaller than the ferule of a wensel woodsman.
JC, are you loading up the front end to get those monsters to fly out of your 70lb recurves? I shoot 31" BOP 75/95 Goldtips, both XT black (.34) and XT traditionals (.30). My 73# Dale Dye likes the black XT's best with 335 grains up front, my 76# Dye likes the XT trad with 310 grains up, and my 80# Ancient Spirits likes the XT Trad best with 275 grains up. I'm looking for something heavier for that Ancient Spirits as I'm only at 643gr and 8gr/lb with this set up, and this CarbonTech might just be the answer.

Dave, Full length, 100gr insert, 200gr point, nock, 4x 4" fletch (no cap/dip/crest) = 835gr. Flew pretty well with 70@27" Morrison recurve limbs (before I sold them).
Thanks JC.
Anyone know a good source for these?
Dave
Ken Thomas (KTinAK) here on Tradgang used to be a distributor, that's where I got mine. Try is email, he may still have some of them.
