Have thoroughly enjoyed the interesting trail cam pics which have been captured over the past years. I find myself checking out the yearly Trail Cam topic weekly.
I would hope that others have incurred similar enjoyment and would like to continue this special topic throughout 2021.
Have been running numerous cams to scout out prospective areas for this next deer season. Hope to share several nice finds this season.
Please post away for all to enjoy?

This power pole on our driveway has been a bear marking post for a few years now. it has teeth marks at about 6' and has bear hair stuck to it on a regular basis. Even one of our dogs rubs on it when we take our daily walks. I put a trail camera aimed at it to see if I could catch a bear and when I checked the card today here is what I got...

This is the fourth buck, so far, I've had on my camera. Another has taller brow tines, but this guy is much wider. Looking forward to seeing how he develops over the next couple of months.
-
Stupid question.....??
I've never used trail cameras. :dunno:
I got a deal on a 3 pack of Muddy trail cameras. About how many pictures do you get on a 16G card? :help:
-
Just got this one last week:

Double trouble!
-
Chuck, I’m not sure how many pics they hold, but recently pulled a 16 Gb card with about 6,000 pix on it…still had room on it. You should be good!
-
Thanks, Brother!!!
I was planning on swapping the cards every weekend, cuz I don't have any way to read them.
Figured I'd bring them home, download them, the take them back the next weekend & swap them out again.
Well, at least I don't have to worry about them being "full" LMAO!
-
They sell readers that you can use. You insert the card and the pictures are displayed on a screen.
I'm cheap so I just use an old digital camera that that has a SD card slot. I can put the card in and see what I've got on the camera display. I usually look through them again on my big screen at home.
Running cameras is a full-time hobby for us. We leave them up all year and really enjoy it.
-
David, I had toyed with the idea of buying one of those readers, but that idea about the old digital camera is ingenious! I’m pretty sure I’ve got one or two of those around somewhere!
-
Glad that helped. Be sure and share some pictures when you get them!
-
i keep my cameras on video, and the videos take up more space . so i use 32 gb cards.
i have never filled one up completely. cards are cheap enough to have plenty extras.
and videos are just more fun! more action!
https://youtu.be/IiOe3OCrcfY
-
I also use my digital camera to view pics in the field and erase those that don’t have animals in them. My camera does fine with the still photos but won’t recognize videos. For those I have to download to my phone, then edit (usually by shortening the video a few seconds) and then I can view it. Not sure why. I think it has something to do with the way the trail cam formats the videos.

If you have a smart phone you can use the fairly cheap card readers that some of the camera manufacturers make. I'm not talking about the viewers that have the screen. You can also get the cheap card readers that plug into the USB port on pc's and plug them into your phone. To do this you need to get a cable that plugs into the charging port on the phone and the opposite end has the same female USB connector that a pc has. I can pull a card and view and load the pictures or videos into the phone and clear the card and re install it. To help keep the images organized for each card that I upload to the phone I will make a new folder in pictures and give it a name identifying the camera location and date then load the images to the folder. You can add an SD card to your camera for extra storage space. Later I will view and delete any unwanted images.
You can usually find the cheap card readers in stores that sell electronics. A search on that company that once sold only books will find these readers and cables. This is really handy when I'm out for a couple of weeks and not making the trip home.

Wood ducks are not often seen in western Washington state, here is a female wood duck and her chicks heading down the hill below my house. I have had the good fortune of a breeding pair nesting in a big sugar maple in my back yard for several years.

Everyone is posting some great images! Keep it up. back on 14 Jul I put 10 cameras out but the weather here has been so hot and dry that I haven't been back to change the cards. Air quality from fires is so bad that they recommend limiting outdoor activity. I don't want my truck license # recorded anywhere near a trailhead where a new fire might pop up. Hopefully we will get a break in the weather starting this weekend.
-
Hope to be putting my cameras out this weekend...

ESP....there is one in particular that I have been trying to hone in...he is a 17 point but has been alluding me thus far...the nice drop tine is being reserved for my hunters and is one of our properties 2 miles from my farm. Likely too prideful however, I won't hunt a deer off my own farm...did have a very nice 21 point last year that was patterning nicely...I didn't hunt him since he wasn't on the farm...the majority of the pics posted come from my own farm where I live.
-
Scott. I know it will take something truly special for you to release the string. Right place, right moment, right experience. Good luck on you quest.

Those are interesting antlers on that buck, Creekwood. We have some bucks around here with antlers like that -- long vertical spikes with random points sticking out. I was after a big buck with antlers like that last year. He should be even bigger and more unusual this year.
-
Joe, it seems like our deer numbers are up in my neighborhood, and there are lots of young bucks running around being pests. LOL. Most of the pics that I have posted have come from a spot within 150 yards of the house. It doesn't hurt that the view out of my front window is of a large alfalfa field. I hope you have an enjoyable and successful hunting season, it is just around the corner.

Haven't had anything too exciting on the deer front so here are some pictures from this bear season.
I had a lot of fun watching these four in person. The cubs were always rolling around the bait wrestling and growling at each other. The sow kept me up the tree until 10 one night. Every time I tried to come down she'd charge over and remind me that I should probably stay up there a bit longer.
