I shoot a modern longbow 51@28 ( I draw about 27 1/2" ). I have been shooting tapered cedar shafts for the last 10 yrs and have tried aluminum off and on. I have some XX75 2018 cut 28 1/2" bop and with a 145gr field point they shoot very good. I was looking at the Easton chart and with a 125gr. point it recomends 1916 @ 28" shaft (10gr.") or 2016 @ 29" (10.6gr."). Would you use a shaft that you can use a 125gr. tip with (more choices in broadheads) and which would you choose? Thanks for any help. Drew

DC... the 2018 does seem a little stiff for your bow, but sometimes it's best not to "overthink" what works.
A little bare shaft testing ala O.L Adcocks system might prove helpful in your case.
The short course is unfletched shaft should impact with fletched shaft at 10 yards or so. If the shaft is mismatched for your bow and draw, the two will impact in different places. (left/right)

DC, I think what you are using now is ideal for hunting. If your interest is competition target shooting (3-D) then it's a whole different ball game. Remember that with a full length broadhead adapter and a 125 grain broadhead you are shooting a shaft with 145+ grains up front. A screw in broadhead of 125 grains would be different of course. If shooting tapered cedar shafts of 11/32" with that bow I'd assume you are using 55-60# spine. Did I come close? :wavey: :) ...Van

Van, Yes, I am shooting 55-60# spine tapered cedars. I'm not interested in competition 3-d; so I'm not looking for the lightest flatest shooting arrow setup. I was trying to use what I already had on hand. Thanks for the response. Drew
