I'm looking for a place to buy some cheap cedar shafts for stump shooting. Loking for something like seconds I quess. Anyone know were I can find some at? Thanks.
Look on the unmentionable auction site-search for 'cedar' under 'shafts'. I think the supplier is Wapiti Archery in Oregon.
Thanks Bjorn, I'll check them out.
If you're not stuck on cedar, American Woodcrafters has birch dowels for $25.00/100. They require a little work and culling, but they are CHEAP, and make great arrows.
I got a bunch from FS Discount Archery, came out to 19.95 a dz. Not as cheap as those dowels, for stumpin' that's a heck of a deal.
"Life's too short to shoot cheap cedars"
I think I saw that on a bumper sticker... :biglaugh:
cheap on arrows cheap on accurate shooting .jar loose buy some good arows and enjoy yourself as Ron says life is too short to shoot cheap ceders :knothead:
I'm with Ron on that one, but Wapiti and Rose City do make alot of stumpers. dino
How about other shaft materials? I have only ever used POC. Would Douglas fir or Sitka Spruce hold up any better? I go stump shooting about every day. I have already broke 5 this week. Just looking for a cheaper alternative or a better shaft material.
I've had good experiences with Douglas Fir. Of the arrows I've tried I've broke the most in Cedar, 1 in Sitka Spruce, none in Doug Fir (or aluminum, but I don't count those!:-)
