I love Deltas. I just bought a pack of four blades. I didn't realize the ferrule was actually cut out for the bleeders. I've always liked my two blade deltas. Anybody that has experience with both the 4 and 2 blades notice any difference?
-
Been shooting both for about 40 years. Both fly the same 4-blades just create a bigger hole. I use 4-blades 80% of the time. Killed a lot of critters with both. Though I do shoot a few other heads as well now, if I had to pick only one, it would be a 4-blade Zwickey Delta.

Just bought 7 packs of 4 blades. Killed my first trad deer with one. Tried other brands. Back to the zwickey delta 4 blades. My ability to sharpen them has improved greatly from the first go around. I can make them shave easily. They do make a bloody mess of things when you shoot them into game.

Gentlemen, procedures for sharpening the 4 blades?
-
Interesting. I’d given up on em. Been 2 years they haven’t made any

I bought the last seven packs that the shop had.
-
I’m seeing a few places have them in stock where they weren’t for years

Sharpening...

Terry, seen those. Do you hone at all? Or strop? Or just straight file/accusharp? Thanks
-
Zd4s are the best heads I've ever used. Period.

Re sharpening. I do the bleeders with a file and then pull them backward a couple of strokes on a side at a time on a hone.
I also use a file to get a good straight, consistent edge along the entire blade. They're three laminations (thicker) in the front and some blades tend to be a bit concave when they come from the factory.
Then I go to Tru-angle hones. I use a Tru-angle file block first, which gives a perfectly straight and consistently beveled edge. Then the coarse stone hone, followed by the fine stone hone. I start with about 10 strokes on each side, then eight, then six etc., down to two and one stroke on each stone. Tru-ange also made a leather strop, but I've never owned one, and the heads are plenty sharp when I finish with my process.
I don't know if Tru-angle is still in business, but one can sometimes find then ( or knock-offs) on the big auction site.

I use a small flat fine file and touch up with a small chainsaw file and diamond stick when sharpening the bleeders of a Delta. It takes some time to get it to where you want. It definitely takes more time to sharpen a 4 blade versus a two blade. People always said that 4 blades put more blood on the ground which is true due to a larger hole and more cutting surface. But if I do my job, a two blade is just as effective. It can be frustrating but take your time and best of luck.

Orion, I bought one of the tru angle file sets probably 15 years ago from 3 rivers I believe. I cannot for the life of me find it, even though I know it's at my parents house somewhere. I've been looking to buy a new one but haven't been able to find one. I do not believe they're in business.

The bleeders are a cinch to sharpen... no reason for them to be a deterant....watch my video..... physics says 4 blades leak more all things being equal.
-
I bought the last of the Magnus 1's that raptor archery had and bought a dozen others used here in Australia. Virtually the same as a delta.
-
Still have a few Magnus Mag I that are a bit wider than Delta heads and very effective. Also, 160 grains.

Ok ................ I'm a wee bit confused.
Mention was made that the Delta hasn't been made in two years and other posts seem to indicate that they're still available.
Awesome head on the right arrow launched from a tuned bow.
-
3Rivers has em
-
I think it was the 4 blades that weren't available... I could be wrong.
-
Ok ........... Are they still being manufactured or are we buying up old stock ????
Thanx !!!!
-
Koko.... either way, you best buy some.
-
Buckeye.... I don't hone or strop... no need to with accusharp... since there is no bur.
-
I would love to really learn how the experts sharpen the bleeders but.for some reason it will not let me open the files..any help is appreciated

Deltas are a great broadhead. I have used Zwickeys for 5 decades, mostly 4 blade.
