Title: Posting dilemma???
Post by: Bisch on January 27, 2021, 10:31:49 AM
Well, a few weeks ago I got kinda chastised on here in another thread for posting pics of my doe. I guess I’m a bit apprehensive now, so what say ye; post another pic, or not post???

That thread was not about a distasteful pic. I was basically told that I was just full of myself for posting pics of a doe on the forums!

And axis deer are really tasty too!

Jeeze...I love seeing pics AND reading the story of the hunt.  Some of those folks complaining apparently have never killed a big monarch doe, Axis or otherwise, to realize what how hard it can be to kill one of them.  Those are some of my favorite trophies.  It's not always about the "horns".  Just my opinion. Keep on posting Bisch!  You take the best pictures anyway!

Why would someone criticise you for posting a pic of a doe. Are they just looking for horns?

Alright, look like the ayes have it!

I got a nice fat axis doe yesterday afternoon with my Primal Tech Recurve!!! The shot was about 10yds. Shattered the near side leg going in. I used a 1.5” wide German Kinetic XL broadhead. The blood trail was almost nonexistent, like to the point that I started doubting what I had seen at the shot and started a grid search while there was still light. There was a main caliche ranch road about 150yds out. I figured if she crossed it, I might find blood. That idea paid off, and I found her about 50yds across the road.

It wasn’t for posting a doe pic exactly. He was saying that guys like me who post a lot of pics on different forums are just full of ourselves and trying to act like we are holier than thou. I didn’t understand how anyone who regularly coms here could get that impression, but that’s basically what he was saying/insinuating.

Good job on the tracking Bisch!  It's amazing how far some animals can travel after being mortally wounded and bleed internally all the way.  Love my Silverflames also!  And she will eat just fine!

Bisch,  When I hear of or witness someone acting like that, I immediately remember my Dad's comment to me when someone would act or respond hat way.  He would merely point out that they were living proof that God made more assholes than assess.

Congrats on the doe! They sure are pretty, and I've heard they taste pretty good too!
Ignore whatever is being said about posting on multiple sites! Nothing arrogant about that! I do it myself. Not everyone is on here, and I've got friends on other forums that I share with as well! This is a bowhunting site, and everyone wants to see the successes of everyone else.

It was the thread about social media, and it already got whacked! He never called me out specifically, but basically said anyone that posts the same pics in more than one forum is that way.

Did you autopsy the deer to see what you hit?  I would have put money on a huge blood trail according to the pic.

I did not! I cleaned her using the “gutless” method. The shot was perfect. Sometimes that just happens. When I hung her up, I couldn’t stop the blood from running out the entrance hole. It was pouring out!

Well I see no reason why you shouldn't post on other sites as well, to show your harvest. I'm sure there are folks on other sites that are not members here that would enjoy seeing your harvest.

Just ignore those types of people, they are just jealous.

Congratulations on a nice doe! :archer:

Congratulations on the doe! I too post on multiple forums, because not everyone may be members of each one. I was chastised for posting a pic on Facebook of a yearling that I killed earlier this year. I say that a trophy may have a different meaning for each hunter, so everyone should feel free to shoot and post whatever they want within legal parameters.

Congrats Bisch!  Glad you made the decision to post pictures and story behind them.  Everyone is entitled to their opinion.  That is what freedom in this great country of ours is based on.  That said, it seems like most really enjoy seeing what others are accomplishing.  Hopefully next year I will get out more and have more to share with you all!

Congratulations! Just got to know coming from someone who has never seen an Axis deer just how big it this deer? In the Entrance picture it looks like an average whitetail fawn, maybe 60#?

I don't know what get's into some people's heads.  Haven't they heard that “If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all?”  Getting any animal with a trad bow is the result of many hours of practice, patience, and hunting skills.

Bisch- there are always going to be naysayers on the net because they hide behind being unseen. I once posted a picture of a groundhog with an arrow through its neck and was blasted for a bloody picture-this is a trad hunting forum and there will always be pictures of animals we take. Keep posting as I like your stories and the respectful way you pose with the animals you are given.

Years ago, when I first joined this forum, I made mention that I had bought a used Black Widow TFIII six months earlier and hadn’t shot it yet. Right off the bat, I was accused of being a liar. I left this site and didn’t return for quite some time. I have over 30 bows and don’t feel the need to shoot all bows all the time. I’ve had guns for 20 years that I have never shot.

Just because we are all archers does not mean that some on here are very friendly.

Bish, I say post up your pictures. All bow kills are worthy and your avatar leaves nothing to prove.

Well done Bisch! I can say for myself as well that some of the critiques on motive for posting have impacted my story telling... I chose not to do threads on last year’s harvests or this year harvests to avoid the perception of spotlighting myself. I very much enjoy reading ALL of the stories posted here :campfire: :goldtooth:

Post away, I remember reading that post and didn't really understand where it was coming from, someone's success is always a trophy no matter what.  I'm the odd man out at the shop where I work because I shoot traditional, there is a lot of razzing that goes on, but there is respect for how I choose to hunt, and at any given time during our deer season here, we are showing off our pictures of success or, pictures of the ones we hope to be successful taking.  Keep the pictures coming.

Congrats on another one Bisch. Why care what others are saying?
You make ethical kills and I cannot recall you not admitting to sometimes having less than perfect shots.
As an archer, you are above many is skills and humility, as many kicked rocks can attest...

First off, congratulations on another clean kill, Bisch! You are a tough act to follow.

I love that you post all of your kills. I didn’t get to hunt a lot this season, and didn’t harvest any deer. I’ve been living vicariously through you and others and especially like the good stories and pics.

And if I didn’t like it, guess what? You’d never know because I’d keep my mouth shut and continue scrolling. Some people get confused and think they’re the center of the universe...

Just keep doing what you are doing! Not everyone will agree with everything, but if they can not put together a reasoned and sensible point thats worth conversation or consideration, then its only worth ignoring.
