I young fellow named Cristian will be receiving a Maddog Pup 14@20 with a MikeG AG and Quiver and a half dozen arrows. I'll let his grandfather oldskool(Robert) explain Cristian situation and I think you'll understand why this boy needs a bow. Look forward to pics this weekend as you should get the bow Friday or Saturday.
First let me say thank you to Vermonster13.
My name is Rob and I am Cristian's grandfather.
Cristian is 1 of 7 grandchildren.(6 grandsons)
His father was hurt in an accident at work.(broke his back and is paralyzed from the waist down) He is a single father on a tight fixed income.
When Cristian was 18 mos. old he had seizures.
He was diagnosed with a golf ball sized tumor on the left front lobe of his brain.
The specialists (they called in 3)said they didn't want to do surgery because that type of surgery has never been done on a child that young.
His chance of survival without surgery was 0% with surgery wasn't much better.
The family decided some chance was better than no chance so the number 1 specialist
(best in the country)set the date.
At 20 months old Cristian went into Children's Hospital for surgery, chemo and radiation.
He spent a year in there except for 2 days he got to come home for Christmas.
When they where finished with surgery, they put his right arm in a sling and tied it down so he wouldn't use it.(left side of brain works right side of body) They didn't want him to strain his brain.(no pun intended)
Well he was in the sling long enough that his brain forgot how to use his right arm.
He is now nine years old and with a lot of therapy,we finally got him using his right arm with hand eye coordination.
now for the rest of the story.
Now we need to build up his arm strength. The therapist has tried everything they could think of and couldn't find anything that would work.Cristian didn't like to do it'it wasn't fun)
We suggested archery so they found a bow and tried it
and guess what....thats right Cristian loves it,and it's working.
The only problem is he only gets to shoot at therapy every other week.
Thanks to Vermonster 13 that is about to be solved.
Now for problem 2
Thanks to all the chemo and radiation,It messed up his growth hormones.
Cure
Shots 6 days each week to stimulate his growth homones. (he hasn't grown a cm in almost a year)
side effects
..........you guessed it it causes brain tumors.
All we can do is pray for the best.
Children ARE our future!
Thanks Vermonster 13 and all the Tradgangers
I will post pictures this weekend
We'll be praying and pulling for him and when he gets too strong for that one we'll do a swap.
I was going to ask you if we could do that.
Thanks again Vermonster13, can't wait to get home and let him open it up.
I'll keep him in my prayers for sure.
Glad there are still good people out there to help others out like this. Way to go Vermonster13

I haven't told him yet, didn't want to get his hopes up just in case. All he knows is papaw is looking.
I'll let him open it his self. All he says about therapy is he gets to shoot the bow.Thats all therapy cares about is he shoots to use his arm.Me, { want him to learn to do it right from the get go(stance, form release).I think he will like it more knowing he's doing it right.
Im sure this bow will bring lots of smiles to this trooper... enjoy your new bow Cristian!!!
THAT IS AWESOME.BEST OF LUCK TO CRISTIAN AND WILL SAY A PRAYER.
Tell Dad that Cristian and family are in our prayers. Anything else you need? Keep us posted.
Fred
Heres another prayer from me! Get well Cristian and when you need a heavier bow all I need is the word.
Congrats and use that skill to get back on top. I hope you enjoy archery as much as I have. God bless you and yours.
And David; the world would be better if there were more like you. I hope we can all learn some humility and charity from those alike.

It's amazing how tough these youngsters are and how tough there families are also. It sounds like Cristian has endured more that his fair share of hardship in his life already, I'm glad to hear that he is doing well and that archery is having a positive impact on his life. By the sounds of this child's resilience , you can bet he is going to grow up to be a fine young man, his family and anyone that knows him must be proud

Wow... almost daily, I deal with some of the worst from mankind... shed it like water off a ducks back. But to be honest this story brought a tear to my eye. Makes me ever more grateful for how healthy my son has been. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
I am certain that Cristian will grow up to be a man among boys... keep your head high and you will persevere. ;)
Oldskool/Cristian: If you guys ever make it up to SW Michigan give me a hollar. We can hit the woods or wet some lines... I am not good at anything but sure try like heck! :p
Forgot to mention: THANK YOU VERMONSTER :clapper:
Your generosity seems to be endless. I wan to say, I look up to you for how a bowhunter should be. ;)
