Sorry, I am new to this and am unsure what to do...
I am unsure of where to start with these things...
I am shooting a toelke whip 42lbs @ 27-my draw...
I was figuring if I cut them down to 29-29.5 " range they's probably do well with 150-175 grn head and be close to 10gpi (375-405 grn total-figured I could just add wt tubes/weed eater line if necessary))
since the brass inserts dont fit them, I went ahead and epoxied the inserts in, then read OL's tuning about fleched shafts and bare shafts... Now anyone have an idea of what length to begin at? I am afraid to go ahead and cut em down cuz full length with 125 flys great out to 25, with 175 being a lil weak (which is what they are supposed to be right?.... but haven't fletched any up yet (waiting on feathers) Doesn't make much sense as my old GT 35/55 have 175 heads + 60 grn of wt... and are at 29.5", but thats 500 spine and these are 600 spine....
I am a lil confused on where to start... this wasn't the base line I was expecting... I am afraid that if I cut them down, I'll need ALOT of wt up front to get them flying right....
am I missing something?
As you mentioned, the new shafts are a different spine (weaker)than your old ones. As you cut those down, the dynamic spine will become stiffer, so you can use the 175 grain points. Since you epoxied the inserts in, just cut a little at a time from the back.
Good luck!
