Title: Bowstring material
Post by: Afgos on September 13, 2020, 02:03:32 AM
Good day gents what materials other than B50 and Fast Flight are good for making bowstrings? Here in SA those two materials aren't sold as far as I know so I'm looking for alternatives. Thanks in advance.

I've never used it  but linen thread was used in the past.   Also silk.  Never used that either.   Might be someone here who has done it.

I've heard some folks use one of the newer fishing lines to make up bow strings. I still prefer dedicated bow string material.

I  did that and it made a fine string.  If nothing else is available it's an option but the relative cost per yard is prohibitive.

Had completely forgotten about that string until you mentioned it.
