Post by: fazhu on September 10, 2020, 11:30:23 AM
Hello gang,
Noob here.  Anyone know what the brace height of a Browning Medallion 64" 33# should be?  Thanks for your time.

Brace it until the string is just in the string grooves. 7 5/8th to 8 is where i shoot mine.

Have very long string grooves on both of mine. Have even shot them as low as 6.5”. Now that said mine are the first two years manufacturing without tip overlays, just internal tip wedges. Those with tip overlays may require more brace.

Thanks for the replies.
I''m asking because the current brace height is 8.5" measured from the deepest part of the hand grip to the string.  This seems very high to me.  I have a 60" (actual measure) B50 string on the bow.  Would a slightly longer (61") string lower the brace height?  The bow is actually 64" measured from string notch to string notch following the curves but not pushed down into the hand grip.

Yes, the medallion is a 64” bow and a 61” string will lower the brace height. How many pounds is your Medallion?

Get a 10 strand B-50 string for that weight bow.

Good to know, thanks Kelly.  It currently has a 14 strand B 50.  61" though, right?  Thanks for your help.

Yes, 61”. 14 strand is way overkill but will work for the time being. If you want to up the performance go down in strand count, 12 minimum but 10 preferred. Each strand of B-50 is 50# tensel strength.
