Title: 1962 Bear Kodiak Special String
Post by: Jmoe324 on August 18, 2020, 09:35:21 PM
Hello,

I just picked up a 1962 Bear Kodiak Special AMO 66 at 38#.  The bow did not come with a string.  For those of you that might own this year Kodiak special, what length of string do you use?  What brace height do you like when shooting this bow?  Thank you.

John

63" b50 string with 8-8.25 brace height should work for you, nice bows.

Love the 62 KS. I have refinished quite a few back in the day and they always have a ton of oil still in those dark rosewood risers.
Also the 61, huge zebrawood riser.
The bows are so different and both awesome.

I put a 63 inch B-55 Shatterproof Archery string on my 1966 AMO 66 inch Kodiak Special and after stretching got a 6 3/4 inch brace height. I put 12 complete twists in the string and this is what I wound up with.  I just ordered a 62 inch B-55 Shatterproof string to get more brace height.
