Over the weekend, I finished my arrows for the upcoming season. I ordered a dozen mahogany shafts from Kevin Forrester and he threw in four aspen shafts for me to try out.
Here they are with the nock and point tapers on them.

I then spent a few days flame cresting them.

I love the grain of the mahogany so I used a light stain to bring it out.

Then the fun part began, painting the shafts. I used to do this myself but my wife had so much fun helping me last year that I let her do it all this year. She did a phenomenal job!

It took a few more days, and several coats of polyurethane, to get them sealed to my satisfaction.

Then another couple days fletching them.

And now I have the finished product. 190 grain field points and 190 grain Meathead broadheads. The average arrow weight is around 660 grains. Come on September 15th!

Always a cool thread. That's a unique and very cool design you come up with each time. Now we'll look forward to the success threads that always follow...
Good luck this season!

I like the designs you put on them. That much art work would be lost on me. They would get lost or broken pretty quick.

Beautiful!

Often in nature, exorbitant beauty is actually a warning sign for enhanced lethality.

Tim, you should still feel proud of your arrows. Any nice arrows should be a source of pride. The thing is, Darren does some really cool art work on his, which makes them really attractive.

A lot of effort and care put into those shafts. Very nice indeed.
May they fly true and straight for you and the blood trails be short and profuse.

How fun...

I usually don't think arrows are too pretty to shoot, but I dunno. Certainly unique and beautiful.
